HP digital cameras seem to be the best buy with plenty of mega pixels for the money, you can also get a package deal that comes with the docking bay which will print out your pics on the spot with excellent picture quality

Try the dsc-w series of sony with carl zeiss lens or the canon ixus lines.

Pls also note the optical zoom capabilities of the camera you are looking at to complement the usual digital zoom range.

If possible, pls also consider cameras that both have an LCD and a viewfinder.

Oh you would be wonderful with the Canon. because you're shifting from an AF/AE 35mm SLR it particularly is purely like getting a sparkling vehicle and not understanding the place the buttons and knobs are from now on. photographs skills won't be able to be lost, so so which you could have the potential p.c.. issues up after analyzing the handbook. purely a pair of issues would be distinctive: - Multi element autofocus - 'action picture' now lasts over 3 hundred photographs between variations. - and you will see the consequence of your photograph promptly. - much less confusing metering equipment. yet quite plenty each and everything is the comparable different than more suitable from previously and buttons have been moved someplace else.

i suggest the Sony Cybershot DSC-N2. i have this camera, it's pricey but totally worth every penny, i mean 10.1 Megapixel, a huge LCD touch screen, and the program called Pain that is on your computer is on there! It's totally worth the money.

P.S. Buy it at Best Buy or Circuit City, they're both having sales on the item!!! :D
