Depends on how long you will be there and if you are only staying in Bangkok (cindy s said for you to go to a beach - in Bangkok?)

Great night life, plenty of clubbing scene, Khao Sarn Road, Sukumvit Road or Silom and Patpong road and many more.

Lumpini Night Market and its beer garden and restaurants. Get up high on the ferris wheel and see BKK at night. Go to China town - then go back at night and get some great tasting food there.

You can shop and shop till you drop and then some more. Take a trip up te river and see the real Bangkok and how people live.
Many great day trips as well - Ayuttaya the old capital.

Kanchanaburi and see the Thai-Burmese railway (and the bridge on the river Kwai fame) and the real wilderness and waterfall out there - including the tiger temple.

Siam Niramit dinner and show. then more night club scenes at Patpong, Sukimvit, Siam Square. And then back for more shopping.

In Bangkok, If not the temple, you may go shopping, seeing nightlife, massage & spa or going to the zoo, museum.

But if you have more time , may be go to the beach & relax at Pattaya for 3 -4 nights which is around 2-3 hours driving, a day tour riding elephant, Floating Market, River Kwai Jungle Rafts at Kanchanaburi.

I tell u my fav places :
1) The Platinum - for wholesale prices of clothing, costume jewelry, shoes & bags.
2) Tesco Lotus Supermarket - There is one at "On Nut" BTS station , it's like Carrefour, where you can get lingeries, toys, reasonable clothing, children's baby's stuffs etc.etc.
3) The Emporium - at 'Phrom Phong" BTS station, where you get some high end shopping, well similar to our Takashimaya with a departmental store inside & many branded shops in the complex.
4) Chatuchat - Weekend Market, which is very intersting to walk abt, although it'll be hot & sweaty, it's worth the while.
4) MBK, best place to buy everything under 1 roof, including local goodies.

HAVE FUN :)

Hi, what is the purpose of your trip to Bangkok, may I ask? By knowing what you would like to do there, can I offer you suggestions. It seems like this will not be your first trip there since you do not like temple visit. So propbably more info from you will be good. Or you can email me at tongbn@yahoo.co.uk for some ideas depending on your length of stay.

Bangkok can be fun. Look at www.tourismthailand.org for ideas if you like.

Why not their temples (wats)? Some of them are historically rich! For city folks, try elephant trekking. Floating Market is interesting. Plenty of entertainment - sleazy ones, pubs with great music/band and performance, great clubs. Shopping is a must - MBK, Chaktuchak (weekends only), Suam Lum Night Bazaar, Pratunam (wholesale market). Do not forget eating, food is available in all forms.
