You don't say how old you are - Many adolescents have delayed sleep.

However there are techniques to help you sleep earlier.

1) heat a mug of milk in the microwave till nearly boiling - try sweetening it and adding vanilla -drink it just before trying to sleep.

2) turn off all lights, radio, tv and turn the clock face away from the bed.

3) - and this sounds silly- close your eyes! lay as still as you can.

no one knows when the fall asleep. In brief daytime naps it is very common for patients to say they haven't slept when I've gotten 10 minutes of good sleep. So it is important not to worry about it.

your mind is on your laptop instead of relaxing, and now you're probably conditioned to staying up that late. Turn off the computer and go to bed, if not at 9 try a little earlier than 12 or 1 ... it's not insomnia when you are not even trying to sleep.

Try warm milk, a hot bath, melatonin or valarian root. You can also try using some Benadryl aka diphendyramine. Another option is use lavender oil on your sheets or in a diffuser type night light. Also staying on the computer is not a good idea because of the increased stimulation from the bright colors and the changing screens.

The longest I ever stayed up with out medications or alcohol used to be 12 days immediately. If your whatever like me take prescribed medications however I am a beautiful extreme case.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
