Hi, Im a 17 year old male that weighs 180 pounds. I know that I am overweight and need to do something about it. The question is what types of things can I do to keep in shape. The conditions are that I am a very distracted person, almost ADD status. The good thing is, though, that once I get a habit, good or bad, I stick to it for a long time. My habits now include school, internet, eating, homework, talking on the phone, and instant messaging. That about covers 95% of my routine. Can anyone give me small, but effective, tips to lose ~20-30 lbs of weight, anything to give me more self-confidence. THANKS!

The key to losing or gaining wait is making sure you burn the amount of calories you eat. So if you don't sweat a lot in a day you should thus not eat very much that day either. Try it, trust me, it will work.

I was a miserable shy overweight teen, I wish I could go back in time and enjoy my teen years. I will give you some good advice and I hope you use it. Be Happy! Enjoy your life. If your weight is truly an issue for you then do something about it. Walk more, drink more water, cut out soft drinks and find an activity that you like and stick with it. Never let anyone make you feel bad about your weight, all that will do is make you hibernate and turn to food for comfort. I wish U the best of everything and much success on enjoying your life!

Wow!! you sound exactly like me :). I'm 17 too, i also weight 182.6 lbs right now i am currently at 176.6. I've been going to weight watchers. It is an excellent program, plenty of support there. Basically you have to eat right, plenty of vegetables and fruits and plenty of protein (make sure you only eat 4 oz of red meat a day). Start exercising, running, swimming, cardio, walking, jump rope or weight lifting.Anything, get away from the computer or try to match the time on the computer with time exercising and the weight should be off in no time. A healthier weight is bound to happen for you if you try.

The first thing you should do is to cut out soft drinks like Coke, Pepsi, and Sprite. You'll lose three to five pounds just by doing this. Secondly, every time that you eat, eat only half of what is on your plate. Thirdly, eat healthier. Limit your intake of fats.

FInally, get up and exercise. Even if you only take a walk for twenty minutes a day, you'll notice a difference in how you look and feel.

Since your ADD you are going to have a hard time finding something to hold your interest. I would suggest that you get outside for whatever kind of activity you choose to do. Walking is great place to start and because you walk your neighborhood you will have a lot of different things to look at to keep your mind into it. Try counting sprinker heads in peoples lawn or how many cars park on the street verses driveways. Count how many houses have windows above their front doors. The good thing is that you know you need to get active and you want to do something to help your body. If you need to join a 6 week kickboxing class then join a 6 week water aerobic class. Keep changing it up if you need to. Good luck.

If you want to lose weight, the only thing you can do (that's healthy and free) is stop being a fat *** (stop eating junk food, cut out fast food completely) drink a lot of water, and exercise. That's it. I'm skinny, and it's from exercise and eating right. I keep myself hydrated as well.

You know. Just as you stick to a habit, commit yourself to walk or swim, it'd be great for your health. Oh, and don't forget to ask a nutritionist as well. :D
