No, they left me in an abusive home when I was 13 because it was easier to let me age out of the system. I was later admitted to the hospital at 15 and psychiatrist said I could not return home so I got to go live with my grandmother.

Then when I had my baby I was investigated because the pediatrician at the hospital where I transferred for an emergency during labour was anti-homebirth and they came out twice, even though they admitted they had no jurisdiction over pregnancy and birth. And the idiots that came the first time had no clue, they quizzed me about my prenatal care even though they had no idea what is and isn't involved in prenatal care. They demanded to see my son naked, and they lectured me about things that were none of their business (like attachment parenting). The second visit was a nurse, and she was cool. She agreed I had every reason not to submit to standard prenatal care, and that it was pointless, liked more natural parenting styles, pointed out the part of my crib that wasn't up to code (that the first ones missed), told me how to fix it, even though she didn't think it was a problem. But aside from feeling slightly vindicated it didn't improve my life in anywhere.

Where I live child protective services have no civilian oversight and, in my opinion, should be scrapped and child abuse investigations should be handled by the police.

I don't have kids, so can't answer this from a parent's point of view. But, as a school counselor I've reported many concerns and the point is not to improve the parents life. It is to make sure children are not being mistreated.

no! they caused so much problems for everyone. I lost one of my kids to his father and got my other kids home. I dont understand how they can give one kid to someone else but say it is ok for the other one to come home to me. so I will have to say NO! they are the reason we cant discipline our kids anymore.
