I define Flying Spaghetti Monster to be FSM.

Since I can conceive of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, FSM must exist.

Ergo, FSM exists.

Not quite.

Because you can conceive of something does not mean it exists. For example:

(1) I define God to be a unicorn.
(2) Since I can conceive of a unicorn, unicorns must exist.
(3) Therefor, God exists.

Replace unicorn with any other mythological chimera and you'll have the same problem.

1. I define a flying jello unicorn that circle's your head to be X
2. Since I can conceive of X, X must exist.
3. Therefore, there must be a jello unicorn flying around your head.

2. Since I can conceive of X, X must exist.
-delightfully ridiculous. That would mean that all works of fiction were both simlutaneously true and untrue.

Let's test your idea.

(1) I define Santa Claus to be X.
(2) Since I can conceive of X, X must exist.
(3) Therefor, Santa Claus exists.

Yeah, I see your point. You've got me convinced.

But that would also mean that all gods exist, since all can be conceived of. Since many religions claim that theirs is the one true god, their religion would be both correct and incorrect. Therefore your original assumption that something you can conceive must exist is flawed.

In statement one if you replaced God with Batman. See what I mean? You better try another hypothesis. Instead of trying to use math equations, why don't you produce or provide proof (other than someone said so) that there is a man living in a cloud? Simply provide proof that would stand up in a court of law. With out that you're just making yourself look bad. Don't do that.

X is a variable, which can be changed at any time. In your case, I will make "X" your car.

Since you can conceive of your car, your car must exist.

Therefore, you drive your car every day to tell people that you think you're always right.

The premise 2 is not justified! If you could justify that, then sure. I mean, X exists in the mind, but not in reality. So if you can conceive of X, it exists in your mind (but may or may not exist in reality). Therefore, God exists (in your MIND!!!)

Like Unicorns!
