I think it's because they are selfish and they think it's easy raising kids. By the time they find out how hard it is, it' to late. I think a lot of young girls look at it like getting a new puppy, they are so cute and cuddly and don't think about it really growing up and becoming more demanding

It's not just unmarried teenage mom's having babies. There is a growing number of young unmarried women also choosing to have babies because they want to have children at a young age but not have to wait for 'mr perfect'. They'll have the child first, then look for an appropriate husband and father later. This has already become commonplace in big cities across America.

Some are too stupid, some just don't think about it, and some want to be parents.
Haven't you noticed the amount of young people (esp. girls) who think that parenting is one of the greatest vocations?
If done in the right way, I don't object to young parents, or even young single parents.
However I DO object to society presuming to impose outdated shame-based morals on others. Stop judging, and get a life instead.
But then, I do have a 20yo male friend who is the father of a 2 month old baby girl, and another 18 year female friend whose son is due in May, so I might be biased.

I don't think there are to many woman that think it's cool but young woman are more then often naive and don't think about consequences because when your young and in love you believe that anything is possible and it's hard to take that minute to think.. as you get older though, being naive starts to fade away and it takes what it takes to grow and just to let you know, no one knows what the future holds and the person that your getting ready to start a family with today could be your ex in a month or so and there is no way to know that :) :) :)

Well I would not call them stupid for starters, I got pregnant at age 16 and it is not cause I was so stupid, my parents didn't agree with putting me on birth control and I was sexually active..not cause I was lacking something in my life just because I thought I was in love. And I must say now I have a great life, I am almost 28 have 3 kids (including my 10 year old) whome I raise with my husband and we have a great life. Have been married for 7 years and enjoy every minute of being a parent. I think children are just not as educated and it is made out to be OK to have sex now at such a young age, we need to teach our children more about it, talk more openly, but never would I say STUPID!!!

Generally it's the too stupid to use birth control option. Despite people who want to place blame on the men, the absolute responsibility lies with the woman who neglected to use the pill, opened her legs for a man without a condom, and chose not to get an abortion or give up the baby for adoption. Once they've completed this triad of idiocy, they compound the mistake by buying into the hype that single motherhood is "empowering" and they should be able to take care of their baby, despite the fact that they usually have no job and no husband.
Expect this problem to worsen in the future.

I hope you become pregnant someday soon.
Now... it's not like support those who are... and I generally HATE those late teen, early twenty single mothers, mostly because they are a drain on society (for the most part). My step-sisters for example are total tramps and two of them have children to show for it (they are 18 and 20). One of them DID use birth control, and her partner used a condom, and SHE STILL conceived. The other one was a dumbass, and just got pregnant.
**** happens... it just does.
I hate that my tax money is going towards to those tramps, ya know. Then again, if I accidentally had my girlfriend pregnant, I'm sure I would hate myself, but sympathize easier

Excuse me but I am not married and I am pregnant with my boyfriends child. We are not stupid and just cause we are not married yet does not mean we are not going to raise our son together and be a family. I am not poor nor have I ever been. We decided together to start a family and are not going to run off and get married for the sake of our son. When we are ready we will get married but untill then we are still together to raise our son.

Either they really want children and no husband, or society really has become corrupt. It's became a sudden, odd fad to have tons of sex and to not stay happily married. (No Offense but...) Angelina Jolie has kid(s) with Brad Pitt and they're not married. That has got have an influence on society.
Compare today's media and society to fifty years ago. Pretty sure that the percentage of pregnant, single women is much higher today than it was in the fifties.

Same reason people do anything...they are doing the best they can at the time...and with the resources available. By resources we consider opportunity, money, life-style, upbringing, needs, etc. Be careful judging how another does anything. Some probably want to get pregnant, some don't and some plain don't know how to avoid it.
