I plan on buying my husband an audio system for his 98 ford taurus on Xmas. A cd player, mp3 and can play dvd?

What should i get him and where?

That sounds like a great gift and he should thank his lucky stars he is married to such a thoughtful person as you. The more formats the system can play is the best, so one with a USB interface, and one that can play music DVDs allows you to carry a lot of music in his car. Good Luck and Happy Holidays.
