How come some people choose to never have children? I'm just curious.

Well, I can't imagine making that decision, but I respect it. Kids are expensive and hard work. I love my girls and they're worth every penny and frustrating moment I have. I wouldn't trade them for anything...
However we have some close friends who just don't want them. They have thier lives and lifestyle and kids just don't fit into that.
There are many reasons why people choose not to have children and it's different for everyone.

Some people know enough to know that they can't, or don't want to handle that responsibility. A child is something that will change the rest of your life, just because they turn 18 does not mean you stop worrying, caring, etc. Just ask your mom and dad, I'm sure that they still think about your well being every day, even if just in a passing thought of how your day is going.

There are some people that are just not good with kids. I never wanted to be a parent because I'm just not good with kids. I don't understand them and I cant relate to them. I just didn't come with that "Mom gene". Its an absolute struggle everyday for me to raise my daughter, but my wonderful husband helps me alot. I really would never have had a child if it wasn't for how good he is with kids.
Also I have a very good friend that refuses the have children because her parents were really screwed up people. She is afraid that if she has kids she will screw them up like her parents did to her and her siblings.

1) Children are expensive, and they'd rather spend the money on themselves. Instead of having kids, I'd rather visit Europe and then South America. You can live a great life without much money when you're single, poverty only happens when you have kids.
2) They feel the world is overpopulated as it is, and it is morally wrong to bring another child into a world this bad.
3) If your maternal instinct is still strong, you can make the world a better place by adopting a child. There are plenty of unwanted children who need a good home, and adoption really is one of the most altruistic things you can do.

The average kid costs $200,000 till they are 18. Then generally you would want them to live in a house (average cost of a house where I live is $620,000). Anybody here with kids either has money, was a long time resident (when the wage to housing cost was much better) or is deeply broke.

SOme poeple just dont like kids. My cousin is 30 and she hyperventilates when she sees my 2 year old in a diaper. It really freaks her out. She has some phobia about it. if he walks to close to her she yells and runs cuz shes scared he will drool, or poop or pee on her. I dont get it but she is terrified of him. Some people just want their careers and dont want kids. Its a personal choice I guess.

Some people just don't like kids- I used to be one but changed my mind. Plus, they are hard work and you have to devote all your time and $$$ for kids.

Either they are selfish or have no inner feelings for kids.Maybe if they had them,they would change but they didn't try...
