Newfoundland.

Sibes have a tendency toward being escape artists. They are very intelligent and have very high energy requirements - they were born and bred to run for days after all! If you can keep up that level of exercise, you MAY look into a Sibe. Talk to several Sibe breeders though - they have many horror stories to tell about clever Sibes in the hands of unsuspecting owners.

Newfies are big, lovable creatures. Their only fault is their life expenctency - big breeds tend to have a shorter than average life expectency. Talk to Newfie breeders about health problems as well.

I am from Alaska, which is the unofficial home of the husky in the US and my family used to breed Newfoundlands and I have to say as someone that has been around both dogs a lot, that a newfoundland is the better choice HANDS DOWN. Husky's can be great family dogs, but a lot of them have either a really aggresive streak in them or kind of a general wierd composure. Newfoundlands on the other hand are probably the most kindharted breed of dog I have ever encountered and are a great dog for families, however if you're looking for a guard dog, it's not a newfoundland.

They're both very good family dogs. Both breeds are highly intelligent and must be trained, but once they are, it's your choice. They'll both be good family dogs; the Newfoundland is slightly mellower in temperment. If you're talking about him being around little kids, get the newfoundland but a Husky wouldn't be bad in that situation either.

Newfoundland. Their temperament is much calmer and would be easier to work with.

Don't get me wrong, Huskies can be wonderful dogs too, just that they have certain characteristics common to the breed that can make them hard to manage. They are very high-energy dogs that can be destructive, are notorious for escaping (one can easily clear a 6-foot fence), snow breeds are known to howl, and they often have issues with small animals such as cats.

Our newfoundland is the sweetest dog I thnk that our family ahs ever had. That gets my vote. I think you just have to evalute the personality of the dog the best you can before you take them home. So either breed is fine. Good luck.

Definitely the newfie, they're pretty low maintainance and happy just to hang out with the kids. Huskies need a lot of attention, if you have several older kids who want to spend a lot of time with the dog it could work out ok.

It can be a tough query. There fairly isn't a "why" that we recognize. One of the most greatest factors is that pit bull are visible as aggressive dogs, so they get purchased and raised by using persons who want aggressive dogs and encourage that habits. Poor socialization is the largest motive why any given canine turns into aggressive, and puppies where aggression is considered as "usual" usually tend to be poorly socialized. The list you gave of breeds absolutely to assault is somewhat skewed. These dogs make the list due to the fact that they are higher and more likely to injure anybody severely when attacking, so they're said more on the whole. Chihuahuas and Cocker spaniels are extra aggressive than a lot of these breeds, but no-one hears about it considering the fact that it's wonderful for them to do a number of injury. (Plus, quite a lot of owners suppose it's "cute" that their lap pet is "making an attempt to behave like a colossal mean dog" and do not recognize that it's truly a situation.) the entire well-socialized pit bulls and Rottweilers i do know had been very social, friendly dogs that might be fine round kids. German shepherds have a temperament of bonding fiercely to their owner and being rather more cautious of strangers - which is why they make such fine shield dogs. There may be some genetic component to bad conduct. No-you can pinpoint a gene, however behavior most likely has a genetic component, which is why unique breeds have exceptional temperaments. Nonetheless, aggression is generally considered as being more of a pathology than a breed trait. I heard of one breeder of Shar peis who would ruthlessly cull whole lines of dogs if she found any indicators of aggression. Accordingly, the vets in her field could see a visible difference in the temperaments of her domestic dogs. However it's difficult for most breeders to try this - to obtain this influence she would honestly have complete litters euthanized infrequently. I am rambling, but this can be a elaborate problem. Sorry. A different point for proposal: There aren't any exams (both external bodily examination or genetic) that will reliably let you know what breed a canine is. (I heard of 1 city that attempted BSL and came up with a scoring sheet to determine how pit-bull-like every given canine used to be. A colleague's purebred chihuahua received a ranking of "close to obviously pure pit bull.) So BSL is best good in opposition to puppies with pedigrees and forms - which are in most cases much less prone to be poorly introduced up (although no longer constantly) than your ordinary BYB dog. I'm really no longer towards BSL that just puts tighter restrictions on unique breeds - like ought to be constant unless you purchase a breeder's license, or they must be microchipped, or you desire a detailed license to have more than one or two - since that's a good compromise between humans who need them strictly controlled and people who find themselves dependable sufficient to have them. However i am in opposition to BSL that prohibits proudly owning them outright.

easily that's no longer the breed, that's the owner. Get one from a reliable breeder, without historical past of canines battling, look after canines, and and so on and you may desire to a ok behaved one with a reliable temperament. ensure to consistently tutor your canines who's boss, by utilising consistently being the alpha. i.e. ingesting first. once you play consistently finally end up on acceptable. and of direction they get alongside with different canines. basically a rely of socialization and practise. don't be stupid. Get your canines neutered/spayed to help avert baaabies, and it is going to be relatively extra comfortable afterwards.
