Yeah, this is called Sleep Paralysis. Don't worry, it's your body's natural defenses. It's where your mind wakes up before your body, and you get 'paralyzed' so you don't do any harm to yourself.. or act out your dreams. I have this all the time, and it's pretty okay. Sometimes, I can even hear what's going on around me, or listen to the tv, whcih is freaky.

Yes, I seem to dream that I have gotten up but then realize I am still asleep. Then I will hear some noise that will scare me and try to get up out of bed but find I can't move thinking I am awake. I get scared and try to make my self move and wake up. I seem to be able to see exactly where I am sleeping whether in bed or on the couch where I have fallen asleep. It is freaky because I seem to see all around me but can't move.

Yes I had that experience 30+ years ago and I still remember it, although it never recurred. A few days ago my son and I saw a TV show explaining the phenomenon (sleep hormones). The show added that this is a fairly common experience, in that lots (one-third?) of people have it, although it often happens only once to any given person. Links:

Yeah, it's pretty scary at first, but it's natural and goes away by its self. It's called sleep paralysis and caused from hormones that paralyze most of your concious movement while your sleeping.

It's happened to me only a couple of times, but my brother has had it happen to him rather frequently. It's a natural reaction to being awakened during a dream.
Relax, you're okay.
And sweet dreams.
