I realize that 6 million Jewish people were butchered and starved and gassed to death. Then their bodies were treated in the most inhumane manner. I am sometimes sick just thinking about it. I also remember that it is Channackah. This is time of year that Jews celebrate the heroism of the Maccebees and liberty. My question is this. If you could, would you allow yourself to be one of those 6 million if you knew that because of your sacrifice the Nation of Israel was to birthed in 1948?

I would disagree with the premise that the holocaust was necessary for the creation of the state of Israel.

The Balfour document that was made after WWI was the process of the creation of the state of Israel. If it was not obstructed it would have allowed Israel to be created before 1939 and thus saving most of the six million Jews.

"Sacrifice" is forbidden! The only time a life can be taken is to save another life!

To "a person": Yes 6 million Jews died and 6 million others died. The difference is that the holocaust effected ALL Jews, but not ALL Christians were effected -- not all gypsies were effected -- not all crippled people were effected. More than half the Jewish population was wiped out. Every Jew you meet anywhere in the world will have lost family members.

I think your cause and effect logic synapse misfired. Jews were not fighting for a homeland or involved in a civil rights movement they were not given the option of self sacrifice. Their extermination was senseless and not because they believed in a cause. The nation of Israel was created out of a deep sense of guilt and shame by non jews. If the holocaust had not happened or the programmes in Russia for that matter Jews would be happily assimilated into other cultures today.

I don't understand why the holocaust is all about the Jews.I am of Gypsy descent. My people were tortured and murdered right along with the Jews and many Christians were done as well, and most people are not even aware of it.It's almost like the only people who are recognized in this is those who complain the most.It was a very bad time for the whole world, including the many soldiers who died trying to stop Hitler and his band of terrorist.

It's not a sensitive question, its an offensive question.

Because it implies that Israel's sole raison d'etre was as a result of the Holocaust and that being the case, one would allow oneself to be butchered "for the cause".

There are many other reasons why Israel exists and should exist.

No, I would not sacrifice my Jewish self so a group of self-righteous bigots would take my death and cynically use it as an instrument for policy, namely the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and the establishing of a fanatical, nationalistic Jewish state. The last thing a terrorist nation like Israel provides is security. Screw them.

in simple terms by using fact they suffered would not supply them the main suitable to make others go through, I ought to assert I even have considered Dr. Finkelstein and that i will't say he's that good. All he does is yell and get opinionated, if that's what he calls a debate...... nicely i do no longer think of he merits that lots credit. it particularly is appalling what human beings will get away with by using fact of the two their previous or their faith. human beings anticipate that on the grounds which you have been wronged it supplies unfastened reign to wreck others; of direction it is not suitable. yet look what u.s. did? what's the 1st ingredient u.s. does after 9/11? even nonetheless u.s. became in Iraq previously 9/11 even occurred, Iraq on no account blew up any kindergartens; yet no-one ever holds u.s. to blame for his or her blood rain... i think of it relatively is in simple terms the bully mentality, the primal would desire to declare ones place and acquire ones "territory." it is not suitable, even nonetheless it relatively is human.

I think this question is sick and so unbelievably offensive. It relies on the absurd principle that anyone of us could comprehend such terrible suffering and then make a judgement on whether we would "allow" ourselves to be one of them for some kind of pre-planned, vain martydom. It trivialises the tragedy.

Are you really that unthinking?
