they are not Inspired Scriptures. They are not logically consistent. They contradict the OT. They contain teachings found in no other sources. They will lead the reader away from Truth rather than toward it.

Short answer: They're classified as heretical and as such have no bearing on Christianity.

Long Answer: Every historical text has a value simply because it is what it is. Personally, I am interested in the time period in which these "gospels" were first written and upon what they are based. The gospels included in the Christian Bible were written anywhere from 40 to nearly 100 years after Christ's death, and it is easy to follow how the story changed as the years passed. If the gnostic gospels were written before this, then I think that maybe they should get some attention. If they were written after, well, even the gospel of John is pushing it as far as historical viability is concerned and that made it to the final cut, so better they're left alone.

to completely comprehend the Gnostic Gospels, you'll be able to desire to comprehend the source. Gnostic skill understanding; the writers of those Gospels stated as themselves spiritually knowledgeable individuals who lived in caves close to the lifeless Sea. that they had a thoroughly diverse theory of Jesus from that of the unique Gospels which some call enlightened. Gnosticism isn't new; it existed during the era of the previous testomony and Masonic communities on the instant instruct a number of their ideas. of direction the Catholic Church of the middle a while seen those teachings evil and banned the writings yet nonetheless, the Church additionally seen the Bible sacred and in easy terms clergymen and Bishops have been meant to verify it. It grow to be no longer till the era of Martin Luther that the Bible grow to be made available to laymen.

Being a gnostic myself I find some value in them. Of course, they are corrupted just like the NT, but at least they were buried almost as soon as they were written so they’re probably far less corrupted. And at least the mythology in them is reserved for cosmology and other dimensions and they don’t try to sell you nonsense as historical fact (ie. virgin births and dead folks rising from graves, etc). And I would say Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Judas, James, Thomas, Paul, and maybe John, were all gnostics (“those on the inside”).

Alas!! the Gnostic gospel is a Christian version of Buddhism. it is about being Vegan, reaching the divine light which is God !!!
Christians hates Gnostic gospels because it doesn't affirm Jesus as God, but instead in the Gnostic Gospels, Jesus is teaching a secret to his dsiciples so that they can be like him, being one with god !! That's right, you can submerge your soul into light and reach towards the source which is god. You must cut all these worldy stuff. It is mentioned in the Gnostic Gospels!! Today this kind of believe is inherited by the Muslim Sufis and the Jewish Kabbalah, not by the christians !!

The Gnostic gospels are simply poorly done "cut and paste" jobs that weave together portions of real gospels and portions of much later heretical works, which contain little or no truth.

They are also falsely attributed to authentic apostles or disciples, when they were in fact written by unknown authors of a much, much, later time.

In all respects, they are worse than useless, because they describe another Jesus, and make spurious claims about his true nature.

Anyone who is truly familiar with the real gospels can spot one of these phonies in about two seconds.

Read 1 John. John labels them as antichrists. Because they deny that Jesus was born in the flesh as told in the gospels. Gnostic's believe that Jesus was never in the flesh because the world and flesh are evil. But the gospel writers say that God became a man and dwelt among us, suffered and died for our sins being resurrected on the third day conquering death.

The bottom line is that in those days Gnostics pushed their agenda by inventing pseudepigrapha. Their writings are helpful to understand their own dogma. The danger is when the uneducated today assume these works are equally valid to the Bible or the writings of the church fathers, the uneducated follow a path that is neither true nor helpful.

I do think they have value but not a good value for what Jesus represents. I think only those studying theology and all that fun stuff should really need them. Or if your just more curious than a mouse but you should learn how to approach them correctly.
