I am a previous windows (hardcore (2003 server admin)) user, and have recently been astounded by how great linux is. I am about to buy a new computer, and was wondering to all the mac users, do you miss windows? Are there things you find you just need a windows pc to do? Is it worth me pouring my money into a new mac, or buying a pc to put linux and windows on it? or can i put windows linux and mac on a mac?

Any answers to the above would be appreciated, especially those that can put a bit of detail.

I'm not a recent switcher, but I have used Windows over the years. I can tell you that there have been times that I would come home from working all day on a PC and turned on my Macintosh just so that I could reassure myself that computers didn't have to be so difficult! Not only have I never missed Windows, but I have never understood why anyone would use it. Everything is so much more difficult on Windows! What's really strange is that Windows users don't seem to notice how hard their lives are. At least not until they've switched to a Mac. After about a month on a Mac, they often can't believe how much easier it is to get their work done.

Oh! Yes, you can have OS X, Linux, and Windows on any of the new, Intel Macs.

Linux is awesome! It does everything I would expect out of a Windows computer, and I don't have to pay for software! I've never owned a Mac before, but I can tell you that if given a choice, I'll never go back to Windows. Macs are supposed to be really good for media type applications, so if you want to make movies, compose music or mess with images, I would imagine that Mac is the way to go. If you DO end up going PC and want both linux and windows on it, you'll have to go dual boot, here's a tutorial on doing that: http://www.geocities.com/epark/linux/grub-w2k-HOWTO.html

Best of luck to you!
