Where would you recommend staying? I am looking for an area with a beautiful beaches and a very cultural scene. I don't want to stay at a really crazy party place, or somewhere super busy. Any places recommended? Any hotels that are nicer, without being too pricy? Thanks!

Went there for my honeymoon and it's paradise. There are so many wonderful resorts but if you have money...Four Season...either Ubud or Jimbaran Bay. We stayed at the Begawen Giri which was sold to another owner so I am not sure if the name is still that. I also love the Aman resorts. Bali is famous for their warm hospitality and wonderful rice fields. For a more cost effective choice, look into the smaller villas. There is the Setai, Legian, Chedi(which changed to another name). Enjoy...you won't be disappointed.

Also, the Ritz Carlton there isn't too bad in price but I prefer staying in Ubud.

Its not beachy but it is really amazing in Ubud. Theres a hotel there called sophies, or sophias or something similar that I could hardly bring myself to leave. Im a beach bunny but Ubud is very, very cool.
For beaches my favourite was Uluwatu, and the best snorkelling was on a little island just off the coast of Bali. Not really that far from Kuta. (sorry, have forgotten all the names, but you'll see it if you look on a map).
