I am a 170 lb, 23 yr old female (mostly muscle) with some fat around my waist. I walk regularly with my dog, I do aerobics approximately 3 times a week, I eat what the pyramid says (pretty healthy) and I still can't seem to lose that extra fat around my waist. Also..my upper arms are a little fat too, how can I get rid of that? PLEASE...no one tell me to stop eating completely..because that is not healthy and if you think that it is, you are most likely anorexic which is a DISEASE. No silly answers please. Thanks!

Youve reached a point where you are sustaining your body's weight. Which is good, but if you arent seen the results you want, then its time to step up your training some.

You say youre mostly muscle..well you do know that muscle weighs more than fat right? But I understand your plight as most dieters come to a point where they stop losing weight and dont realize theyre losing body fat and not pounds, where the scale stays the same.

First, Id have a body composition test taken, along with your weight. So you can see if youre actually losing body fat.

then Id reevaluate my training goals and determine whether I need to eat less calories and create a diet that reflects just that, or if I need to increase weight training or cardio to shed extra calories or both.

Its great that youre in shape and mostly muscle...but the more fit we become the harder it becomes to shed the pounds that we dont have. So reevaluating calorie intake and comparing that to calories burned off during workouts will help create a new plan that should help create the results you are looking for.

Hope it helps

what worked for me, to jump start my weight lose,,, was to fast on liquids only, once a week,, or every other week, i only drank tea, sugarless juice,, soup broth, and maybe ate a few crackers,,,,,,and took a multi vitamin, which i do almost everyday anyway,,,, its not for everyone, but it worked for me,,,,,
another thing, make sure you eat breakfast, as skipping the first meal when you wake up, can slow your metabolism,,,, finally, besides my 3 time a week exercise, i also started exercising during tv commercials,,,, that jumping up for a couple minutes dancing around or jogging in place, sure adds up! you also can do that every half hour if reading or on the computer,,, this seemed to help me alot,,,,,,,,and i do the core exercises, which are dance moves, with feet flat on the floor, raise your left hip, then your right,,,, repeat about 20 times, then tilt your pelvis forward, then back sticking your bum out,,,,,,,,20 times, then rotate, hitting the 4 positions you did in the other two,,,,,, these really work your stomach muscles, more then situps or anything else ive tried,,,,,,,, all this put together has helped me go from a tight size 14 pants to a loose size 8,,,,, in less then a year, still eating alot

genetically women store excess in the rump, while males store it in the belly...not sure why this is, however, movement is key. not in the stomach region like so many would think, but all over. have an endocrynologist check to see if you are hypo/hyper-glycemic, in other words high-sugar or low-sugar. an injectable called "BYETTA", has been a great drug for diabetics, plus a unique side effect is lowered appetite. anyway, movement and persistance. body does not like change, plus there is a point where your body stops losing weight for a few days to weeks, called a plateau, then decides that you are serious about this loss thing. don't give up. i have faught with this most of my life. don't forget, find a place in your weight loss where you feel lovely when you look in the mirror. happiness within yourself is just as important as diet and exercise.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Cut sugar completely from your diet. Don't worry too much about carbs. try not to eat too much saturated fats but don't cut it out completely. Other than a good diet, do some more cardio. Also, find some type of physical straining exercise that you enjoy. Experiment with many activities and workouts until you find one that you look forward to doing each day. Good Luck

This website helped me understand how weight loss works, and the things you can do that really work. The web author tells you exactly how you can lose weight, as simply as it can be explained. It's not a quick weight loss scam, you don't have to sign up, there's no pop-ups that I remember, it's free information.

if you drink alcohol that is likely where the extra calories are from. If not try doing cardio one extra day a week.
