Why do most people go to church on Sunday there are about 11 reasons but they are NOT supported by the Bible.
I will explain each of the 11 reasons below it may be a little long, but it will cover all the reasons. I do not want to offend anyone with what I say but I have to say what the Bible says.
1.The early church changed
NO WHERE in the Bible does the early church say “The new day of worship is Sunday.” NO verse in the Bible to supports this.
The early church kept the Sabbath
The apostles kept the Sabbath
Acts 13:14
Acts 13:42
Acts 13:44
Acts 16:13
Acts 17:2
Acts 18:4
the Gentiles went to Church on Sabbath
Acts 13:42
Acts 17:1-4
Acts 18
2.Because of the resurrection
No verse in the Bible says worship on Sunday due to the Resurrection. Baptism is the symbol of the death and resurrection
Col 2:12
Rom 6:3-4
Gal 3:27
3.Jesus fulfilled the law so the Sabbath is gone
Matt 5:17
"Do NOT THINK that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I HAVE NOT come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
does fulfill mean end?
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to end them.
Isn’t that the contradictory?
4.We can’t tell which day
So, ENTIRE Jewish Nation all over the world woke up one morning and EVERY one forgot which day was the Sabbath?
That is not logical
The change of the calendar had no effect on the weekly cycle
The US Naval Observatory and the Royal Observatory both confirm the 7th day Sabbath is the SAME Sabbath that Jesus kept.
Mark 16 says that Jesus rose the day after the Sabbath. We all know Jesus rose on Sunday... so what day is the Sabbath?
Some people say “God didn’t name the days Sunday, Monday, Tuesday etc those are pagan names so we don’t have to keep it.”
What these people are saying is because we speak a different language from the Jews we don’t have to do what God says
5.It does not matter which day WE choose
God did not say "Pick a day to worship" He said "THE" 7th day is "THE" Sabbath. The word "THE" means a specific item.
The first person to say "It doesn't matter how we worship God" is Cain. Cain said "It doesn't matter how we worship God as long as we give something God will accept it. Don't be legalistic Abel."
Was he right?
Is God specific?
6.It was only for the Jews, or The Jewish Sabbath is Saturday and the Christian Sabbath is Sunday
The Sabbath was given to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden 1000 yrs before the first JEW was born Gen 2:1-3 if they were Jews we all are Jews need to keep the Sabbath
There is NO SUCH THING as "The Jewish Sabbath and the Christian Sabbath". There is ONLY ONE Sabbath day regardless of religion, race, nationality or language. The 7th day Sabbath does not belong to the Jews it belongs to God, "I am Lord of the Sabbath" Jesus said. In addition "The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord" Ex 20:8-11
7.Sunday has always been the Sabbath
This contradicts the Mark 16 which says Jesus rose the day after the Sabbath on the first day of the week.
8.we are under the new covenant
Heb 8:7-12 says
For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(What was the problem?) But God found fault with the PEOPLE and said "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a nEW COVENANT with the house of ISRAEL and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt (Why?), because THEY DID NOT REMAIN FAITHFUL TO MY COVENANT, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.
The Old Covenant- the people failed to keep their part “They said we will do it” Ex 19:8 and they failed
The problem with the Old covenant was the people failed to keep it. There was nothing wrong with the law.
The Old Covenant was based on the people, God says “If you will...then I will” Ex 19:5
The New Covenant is based on God, God says “I will and I will”
Where does God say that He is changing some of the laws? Where does God say that He is doing away with the Sabbath?
The New covenant, same law
9.Jesus broke the Sabbath
If Jesus broke the Sabbath then how can he say “I have kept my Fathers commandments John 15:10
10.We worship on the lord’s day … Sunday
Again, NOT ONE verse to support this claim, nor is there any verse in the Bible calling Sunday the Lord's Day. the only days called the Lord's day is the Sabbath(Saturday) and the day of Christ’s 2nd coming
Ex 20:8
Isa 58:13,14
Mat 12:8
Mark 2:28
Luke 6:5
Provide ONE verse that calls Sunday the Lord's Day
11.We don’t keep the Old law, we keep the spirit of the Law Love God and your neighbor
A) Is it ok to murder people? Is it ok to commit adultery? Or steal or worship other gods or be disrespectful to your parents? Then why are we getting rid of the only commandment that starts with “Remember”?
B)Does the Spirit of the Law void the Letter?
Spirit- don’t hate your brother
Letter- don’t murder
Spirit- don’t lust
Letter- don’t commit adultery
How can you keep the spirit and break the letter?
C) Jesus is quoting the “Old” Law when he says love God and your neighbor
Love God Deut 6:5
Love your neighbor Lev 19:18
12. Worship God everyday
This is a last ditched effort when people realize they have no Biblical basis to support violating God’s command by ignoring the Sabbath and worshiping on Sunday. It is a way to sound holier than thou while willfully disobeying God
The disciples worshiped God everyday and they ALL kept the Sabbath.
Jesus prayed to His Father in Heaven everyday in addition to the fact that He is God and He still kept the Sabbath
Luke 4:16
Mat 12:9,10
Mark 1:21
Mark 6:2
The Bible shows that If you worship everyday you STILL keep the Sabbath
Pastor Billy's attack on the Sabbath can be summed up in “The ONLY reason Paul kept Sabbath is because he was trying to convert Jews, if it was not for this he would have kept Sunday.”... But where can this be found in the Bible, where do we see Paul telling converts “I only kept Sabbath to convert you BUT NOW keep Sunday.” Where does Paul tell the other disciples "In order to reach the Jews we have to keep worshiping on Sabbath then start worshiping on Sunday" where does the Bible ever say "The Old Sabbath" or the "Jewish Sabbath" No where. Why? Because this teaching is made up, it requires people to believe in it with no evidence to support it. The reason Paul kept the Sabbath was because its a command of God Ex 20:8-11. I don’t need to prove keeping Sabbath, it is an expressed command of God, “I change NOT” Mal 3:6 Jesus said “HEAVEN AND EARTH would pass away before the smallest dot in the law is removed”, but many don’t want to remove a dot, they want to remove the longest command and ignore the only one that starts with REMEMBER. I do not need to prove it, God’s word, the Bible proves it. You are saying not to follow God’s expressed command YOU need to prove Sunday. Which you have failed to do, what you have done is provided your OPINION against the Sabbath with no BIBLE evidence and failed to use the BIBLE to prove Sunday.
The leaders of the Catholic Church even say that the Bible supports the Sabbath
“The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day we never sanctify.” James Cardinal Gibbons
“People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority should logically... keep Saturday holy”
Revelation 14 says that 3 messages go out to the world right before the end comes. The 1st message says worship the creator and then it quotes the 4th commandment.
That is why people are always talking about the Sabbath

solly: Yes; the 3rd Commandment is clear about the Sabbath Day ... if you are Jewish ... a non-christian ! The 10 commandments were given to the nation of Israel [Jews] by Moses, via the Old Covenant [contract] , binding the nation of Israel to God. Ultimately, God "divorced" Israel for not keeping the Laws, statutes and commandments perfectly. They broke the contract with God. Since no man has nor will ever, keep the Law perfectly, God foreknew this and sent His Son, Jesus, to form a Spiritual Contract [New Covenant] with all people, making them "Spiritual Jews". This New Contract or covenant is a spiritual application; thus, making the 10 Commandments of the Old covenant voided. The NEW is based solely on Love not "do's and don'ts"; therefore, a Christian keeps all 7 days to worship God in both, "spirit and truth". It is referred to as the Royal Law of Love. To fail to exercise love either, to God or neighbour, violates the New Covenant and is called "sin". Jesus Christ has died for our sins and since we walk in a relationship with Him, He forgives our sins [called, "GRACE"]. So; unless you are bound to the OLD Covenant, you are not required to keep the 10 Commandments ! The law is spiritual - not physical anymore !!! You can keep all the commandments you want but you can not keep them any more perfectly than Moses did and he never went into the Promised land ! IT IS OF GRACE NOT RACE !!!

Interestingly, the Sabbath command is the only one of the Ten Commandments that is never repeated in the New Testament. The other nine are repeated anywhere from four to sixty times.

Although Saturday is actually the Sabbath and is wholly kept by most Jews (here where I live anyway).
Sunday, is traditionally a day the people have off. It is out of tradition that churches have services then.
However, if one understands that we are no longer under the third commandment or the Ten Commandments OR the other 613 laws which make up the WHOLE LAW, then you understand what the Scriptures say below and don't have to worry about keeping the WHOLE law.
Now, yes, Christ Jesus did mention parts of the law in his teaching and this is to be honored. However, the fact that the Scriptures below plainly show that HE ended the Mosaic Law.
"For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God; but not according to accurate knowledge; 3 for, because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness." Romans 10:2-4
"He kindly forgave us all our trespasses 14 and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake." -Colossians 2:13-14
*************
Since there is no evidence in the Scriptures that Christians were commanded to observe a sabbath or that it was kept during the lifetime of the apostles after Pentecost, what position should a Christian take? He can Scripturally take the position that sabbath observance is not a Christian requirement. This is made evident by Paul’s statement at Colossians 2:16, 17: “Let no man judge you in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of a sabbath; for those things are a shadow of the things to come, but the reality belongs to the Christ.”
The law covenant with its observance of new moons and sabbaths, including the seventh-day sabbath, was like a shadow that led to and ended with Christ. As it did not reach into the Christian Era to obligate Christians to keep it, so sabbath observance did not carry over into the Christian Era. That is why sabbath observance is not mentioned by the Christian governing body at Jerusalem as a requirement for non-Jewish Christians, although several other things were mentioned. The record of this is at Acts 15:19, 20. Neither here nor in later instructions to them was any mention made of sabbath observance, which certainly would have been made if it were vital for God’s approval.
The apostle Paul said: “I have not held back from telling you all the counsel of God.” (Acts 20:27) Despite all the counsel and instructions he gave the Christian congregation, he said nothing about sabbath observance as being required of Christians. In his letters to Timothy and Titus he details things that are required of persons appointed to positions of oversight in the Christian congregation, but he makes no mention of sabbath observance. Since he told “all the counsel of God” for Christians but did not mention sabbath observance, we must conclude that God does not require it of Christians.—1 Tim. 3:2-7; Titus 1:7-9.

The First Day of the Week is the day of Christ's Resurrection. We celebrate His Resurrection. The first day of each week is a little "resurrection celebration".
Since you are intending to keep the seventh day sabbath as commanded in the Tanakh, do you keep it fully? Can we presume you do no work on the Sabbath? That you do not light any fires? That you do not light any lamp or electric lamp? That you do not use computers? etc., etc., etc. If you are under the Old Testament Law, then you will be keeping all of the law, and all of the law concerning the Sabbath.
We are under Grace. We still keep (or should keep) the spirit of the law ... keeping one day a week as special, set apart, to focus on the worship of the Creator Who is Risen from the Dead; to spend time in re-creation of our selves, our bodies., etc.
