OKAY. LISTEN TO ME!!! :) I have tattoos on each of my wrists. I have one on my middle finger on my right hand, I have one on my neck, one on my ankle, and a HUGE one on my right calf. Now, the ones on my wrists and finger were definitely not the smartest things to do. If I could go back, I'm not sure if I'd still do it, but that is because I was young and stupid, NOT because they have kept me from getting a job! When I got the majority of them I worked at Hot Topic, so they fit in. Now that I'm older I feel as though I've grown out of that phase, even though the tattoos are the same. My most recent job was at Nordstrom's. I went from a place where people get dumb tattoos on their foreheads to a place where a professional piano player plays music and they serve champagne at the door! It's all in the way you present yourself. I worried too, at first. I thought I had ruined my life, but my tattoos have never kept me from getting a job!

It depends would you really want to work for someone who would think badly about you just because you have a tattoo. My hubby has a rather large one on his wrist and he is going into Drafting and Design. Most of the people in class with him are either tattooed or pierced. And you can cover a wrist tattoo, its called a long sleeve button up. I believe you can look completely professional and still be tattooed or pierced.

the best thing to think about when getting a tattoo is where to put it. It usually helps to put it somewhere where its not easily exposed. When getting a job it could be a turn off when you have a tattoo on your wrist or neck or something that can't be easily covered up. I know you are thinking that nobody will see it this way, but this isnt true. You can wear everyday clothes that dont cover it up. I know many people who have many tattoos, but they are seen often, just not during the working hours.

I don't know a lot about tattoos (I don't have one) but I do know that tattooing over stretch marks is NOT a good idea. As for a tattoo having a negative effect on your future...If your clothing is going to cover it while you're on the job, I wouldn't worry :)

Well... all i can say is maybe get a watch... it mite work, Well about your question, it shouldn't affect your chances of getting a job but the hard truth is that it does depending on the job, and the boss, most places don't care but some HIGH PAY businesses don't accept people with jobs, it six, i know i haven't had to deal with it directly but my ex gfs dad had full sleeves, omg they were hella sick and they made him wear long sleeve shirts to work all the time, its a shame to cover that **** up, its like you cant have visible tattoo's in the police force but you can get away with having a "Hitler" stache' i hope you find a good understanding job... and if your tats where i think it is get a watch...seriously

With our society the way it is - people tend to judge you on your outward appearance. I don't let anyone know I have tattooes until I know them - then I can share that fact. It has been on more than one occasion I have heard "You don't look like the 'type' of person that would have a tattoo!" What exactly is that suppose to mean? Once they know me - they know that the fact I have a permanent piece of art on my body does not change who or what I am.
If you are really concerned there is a good concealer dermablend that does really cover tatt's - at least until you interview and get the job if that is what you are doing.

Tattoos that are visible are still not accepted in employment. I have to cover the one on my ankle when I wear shorts because I work in a nursing home. But it's not a good image for a banker, lawyer, etc if they had a tat on their wrist or sleeves. I like tattoos, but they can be a problem if not strategically placed.

I want a tattoo on my wrist!! But I also thought about that... good question. I would think if you were going to be a counselor, or psychologist or something like that it would affect it. I thought I could cover it with shirts, jackets, sweat shirts, bracelets, and watches. I dont know, I'm interested in seeing the answers to this.

Visible tattoos can affect whether you get a job or not. make sure you keep it as covered as possible during the interview. chances are that if they hire you and then notice the tattoo afterwards that could be grounds for dismissal. if you apply for a professional type job, maybe you should be upfront right away about your body art and maybe your honesty could be a feather in your cap.
good luck

Unfortunately yes. People make the wrong presumption as soon as they see a tattoo. Maybe this perception will go away in the future but for now it is taking away from you the good or better jobs.
Cant you cover it with make up ? or a wide band bracelet
