I'm 18, and in my first year at university, and quite frankly I'm lonely. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any female who keeps me enthralled with her long enough to consider a relationship.

I have above average intelligence (high school salutatorian) and many girls my age I have met (especially so far at university) are unbelievably ignorant...

Is it too much for me to ask for a female who matches me intellectually? I am seriously having trouble finding a girl who fits the bill (My high school valedictorian is the only girl I've ever met who has matched me but she goes to school on the opposite side of the continent).

I am not using this as an excuse. This is a hypothetical question based solely on my experiences with the girls I have met so far, dating or not dating.

And as for being picky: isn't that the point? I'm not looking for someone who I'll want to divorce a few years after marrying...assuming we were married.

Please do not try to judge me. Looking out for my personal interests does not make me self absorbed. Other than that, thanks for the good answers so far.

No you're not. Just stop looking and she'll show up. Keep the faith.

Hey calm down man. I am 23 and am single and attend college. It's not the end of the world. There's always strip clubs for that stuff;-) But no in all honesty, I had a girlfriend in 2004-2005 while in college and I have been paying for it ever since. It made 2004 and 2005 the worst years of my life, the numbers 4 and 5 are my unlucky numbers because of her. My GPA is still suffering and recovering. Take this time to study and focus and most importantly, graduate on time. Once you are settled and got everything under control that girl will slip in. I mean do you want to deal with the drama, commitment, sacrafices, and straight up BS while studying for tests, doing homework, and trying to graduate? Most of the times a girlfriend in college or university can create unneccesary problems that you could live without. Remeber focus!

If intelligence is all your looking for...then I'm sure you can find PLENTY of girls. Go to med school, pretty much everyone there is "smart". If you also care about physical looks and morals and humor and personality, then actually "dating" someone is the only real way to know anyone. Don't judge people that you haven't even gotten to know.

Baing picky isn´t a bad thing, may be you aren´t looking in the right place or may be you´re having a false sense of superiority. If the second is the case, you are DOOMED, but fortunately you can talk it to a psychologist and get cured.

i scored in the ninety ninth percentile on my standarized tests. There are plenty of smart women out there just look. Many girls actually play dumb because they think boys think its cute. i don't but some do.

but you sound kind of self absorbed. get over yourself. and what kind of responses did you expect from this? Of course you'll find someone. thats what you want them to say.

But try hanging out in bookstores. usually smart girls are there.

Yes. You are asking way too much. Have sex with them. You don't have to talk to them. In fact, keep talking to a minimum. You can talk with your friends, parents, relatives, etc. It doesn't have to be a woman.

You will find that women are only interested in material things, such as shoes, designer brand bags, purses, etc. You get the idea. Screw them. Just use them for sex. When they get old and withered, and nobody pays attention to them, they will start becoming interested in politics and current events. Trust me. I've been through plenty of women and their brain didn't interest me one bit.

Your being prejudice and making a big deal out of nothing. Stop making excuses for your lack of success for not finding your dream girl. There is no such thing. She is there when you least expect it.
