Depending on the extent of the problem Oreck makes a special cleaner for pet stains called No Return, this is very good. If you HAVE TO cover the smell, then you can use a product called Alanite (*they are special lava type rocks), this absorbs the smells and then you can set it outside later (in the sun) and the smells are released outside. or you can get an Air cleaner that will remove the smells.

Go to your local pet store and pick up some Natures Miracle for Cats! Make sure it's the stuff that says cats on it since the regular stuff does not get cat urine out! You can put some in your carpet shampooer and shampoo your carpets with it. You may have to do this several times to completely get it out though. If it only on one spot, pour it on full strength onto the spot, and let it sit for awhile and get down into the carpet. Make sure you put some towel and hard object like heavy books on top to soak up any extra and you do need to let it air dry completely. It will take out any urine and odor!

I use Woolite Pet Stain and Odor Carpet Cleaner. I've found that with Nature's Miracle, a problem cat who sprays will sometimes mark the same spot later. When I use the Woolite cleaner, it breaks the cat's habit of spraying in that area.

This is the result for only my particular cat, though, so I really don't know if it will work the same way with other cats. Woolite is pretty cheap, so it's worth a shot anyway.

definitely vinegar...it works wonders!! buy the cheapest brand of vinegar in large quantities (brand quality doesn't matter), dilute it with a little bit of water and use generously...the carpet will smell of vinegar for a little while but it goes away quickly and is definitely better than smelling cat urine...I used vinegar like crazy when I was house training my puppy and it honestly works so well, I used it on carpet, laundry, even tiled floor...it neutralizes the odor completely so that your cat will not smell the spot where he once urinated and get the urge to do it again...vinegar also work really well to clean windows or anything glass, it leaves no streaks!! it's also useful for unclogging drains and moldy shower heads...it's all purpose!!! good luck!

get a couple boxes of baking soda (bicarb) and scatter it all over the carpet. Leave it overnight. The soda will absorb the smell. Then you just have to vacuum it all up the next day.

works like a charm.

you should go to a pet store and buy something that can make the bad odor away or you could just wash it and train your cat to pee on a newspaper.
