My 4 year old came down with an ear ifection today.
Hes been on numerous antibiotics since October for sinus infections and prevention of skin infection for a recent chicken pox out break.
Do any of you know of a homeopathic way of curring an ear infection, or is the normal antibiotic way the only way to get rid of one??

he should be treated with antibiotics. there can be complications with an untreated ear infection- ruptured tympanic membrane, errosion of the ear bones....
also, he lives in a smoky house, that can also cause repeated ear infections/sinus infections...

When a person has an infection they develope a fever to fight off that infection. If you give a child too many antibiotics they will develope an immunity to them and then they will not do their job. If your child is not complaining of pain and does not have a fever of 103 degrees then you can let the body fight the infection. Most people take their kids to get antibiotics because ear infections hurt and the antibiotics help it to clear up sooner. You can go to say Wal-Mart and get some ear drops but it has been my experience that they do not work very well. I tried that for my son who had an ear infection and we had no insurance so I wanted to avoid going to the doctor but the drops did not help and I ended up getting him antibiotics. Sometimes the pain is more than a child can take for long enough to let it clear up on its own.

She could get a million/2 of it soaked in the hydrogen peroxide and place the moist bring about my hear, and then she could have me tilt my head so as that the peroxide could drip into the ear. This continually appeared to assist. The peroxide ought to sparkling the ear out. He shoudl hear a fizzing sound. additionally yet another large ingredient is a beeswax candle funnel made for drawing out wax and such from the ear. you place the wax funnel in the ear. you're taking a low-priced disposable pie pan and poke an entire by way of it. it relatively is to seize the ash. and you easy it up. There are OTC drops that work really well. Doctors are now getting away from using antibiotics for ear infections due to antibiotic resistant infections being on the rise. Use Tylenol and Morton interchangeably; Motrin than Tylenol 4hrs later and Motrin 4hrs after Tylenol to keep a constant pain reliever on board.

your little one may need tubes in his ears to help drain off fluid. If fluid sits to long in can become infected thus the infection. Plus your little one will be a lot happier. I would see about taking your child to an ear, nose and throat specialist. and getting it checked out.
I've heard that blowing a warm hair drier on low setting into the ear helps with the pain. Never tried my child had tubes after several ear infections.

Go to the doctor not matter what an ear infection is very serious. Homeopathic is okay as a treatement with conventional medicine or for treating a not so serious condition.
Ear infection is very very painful and serious.

you should make sure she takes antibiotics to get rid of the infection. my little girl gets them all the time and the only way to get rid of them is antibiotics. my little one had to have tubes put in her ears they was so bad. about every 2 months she would have an ear infection in both ears.

I had to go in to the emergency room about 2 weeks ago in the snow storm from hell. they gave zipromax ( not sure of spelling) and it took away almost all the pain that night. but I had to sleep in the recliner because to lay down was too painful. Do take him in to the doctor don't you want him to be as comfortable as possible. In the day it's not so bad but at night it can be sooooo painful.

doc is best to answer you.
if the doc your seeking treatment is not helpful or you having doubts, seek second opinions.
my 2cents: keep the ears clean and dry, careful not to further hurt the tissue, make sure your kid take a lot of water.

your kid needs antibiotics for his infections and analgesics for pain. He needs an ENT specialist's advice firstly.
