I'm friends with a guy I used to date. We were dating till 4 months ago. About a month ago, he told me that he would like to date me again and see if we have a real future. At the time, I turned down his idea. Since then, he's been emailing me more often, telling me more about his day, trying to make next dinner plans while we are on a dinner, etc.

The thing is, one of his female friend had a key to his place while we were dating and it bothered me. That was one of the reasons we broke up. A few weeks ago, he told me how he got the key back from her (though I didn't ask about it). He said he would give me the key if we were dating.

He recently came back from a short trip and gave me souvenir. In the plastic bag, there was a receipt along with the souvenir, which indicated he'd bought two souvenirs. It made me wonder who he gave the other one to.

Do you think there is no chance between us if these little things make me doubt his feelings for me? Can he be trusted?

Trust is one of the most fragile things that we all have. Once lost, it takes a long time to build up again. In your question, there is no mention of WHY you lost trust in him. I am curious about why you don't trust him (other than the female friend with a key). As for the souvenir, could it have been for a family member? Another friend? Unfortunately, I don't have enough information to give a complete answer.

I agree that a relationship should have trust. But u should have asked him about the receipt since it bother u, because u went right to thinking that the other souvenir was for the friend with the key( right)

What u need to do first is have a serious talk with him about if u and he are going to be in a relationship then he has to be true to u, that u don't want for one second to feel like he's not true.

Well, first off. There isn't anything wrong with dating multiple people simultaneously (I'M NOT SAYING HE'S DATING SOMEONE ELSE). If you've agreed to a commited relationship, then that's another thing. Lying is never okay.

trust can be regained. It needs to be earned. A person is only as good as their word.

If you care about the guy, then don't shut the door in his face. Have fun and keep your options open. You can meet people, he can meet people. If you enjoy eachothers presence then that's what matters.

Well for starters, the guy has kind of shaky history and you really are not going to be very trusting, nor should you be.

You asked the question, "Can he be trusted", maybe, but these are tricky circumstances, and you really do need to be careful.

Trust is something that he is going to have to earn.

I think at this point you should really just focus on being friends. Keep your distance for awhile, but get to know him better. If he really does prove himself trustworthy, then go for it. But honestly, the key thing does kinda make me raise an eyebrow. Just be careful. Hope things go well!
