She gave me clear signs that she was interested, strong eye contact, long hug, always smiling, and giving occasional glances at me in class..but when it came down to it I asked her out and she said she had a boyfriend..what is up with that? This is destroying me

Girls love attention. She enjoys spending time with you, flirting with you, the attention that you give her ... she's probably even attracted to you. But she's not willing to give up her boyfriend to see what happens with you. My advice is to leave her alone. She's using you to compensate for attention she's probably not getting from him, but she's never going to be serious about you.

I know how you feel. I, too, knew a girl with whom I had two classes with. I went through the same confussion as you did. She had a boyfriend and even said she couldn't date me even though she thought I was attractive. She would pass me notes (a little immature this was college mind you), make eye contact, scratch at my arm for attention, flirt, and all together smile at me. She is still a good friend of mine but it's a little weird, she likes me but at the same time she always says I could never date you blah blah blah. Anyways my advice is either just stop giving her attention if it is getting to you, become her friend, or, hell, just tell your buddies like I tell mine that she is one of your hook up girls from the blackbook.

You obviously misunderstood. Its normal when speaking with someone to look them in the eye. and as far as smiling thats normal too. she shouldn't be snarling or grunting at you. so those two things knock each other off the list.. as far as giving you a hug. many women do that men too for that matter.
Just chalk it up to expereince and next time look for better signs thats not enough to go on. Try fishing around next time before asking her out, or at least get a better for sure vibe she's into you.

If you were her boyfriend, how you would you feel if she did that with someone else?
Do you still want her?
If you do, pull away (and I mean AWAY so that she misses you/wonders about you) and see if she gets rid of her BF to try for you once she's single. If she does, she may be respectful. If she doesnt, she'll do it to you (if you end up dating) once she gets bored of you.

Maybe she is only playing u. Or maybe she wants to dump her boyfriend, and she his looking for replacement. Give her a shot and talk to her about it.

girls are tricky. she may be flirting with you just to make herself feel better with no intention of actually dating you. move on to another girl and maybe when this girl is single, it can happen.
