Well said! I've noticed a lot of silly, ignorant, judgmental, time-wasting and downright offensive answers across all categories on here, not just suicide! I'm also delighted to see that I'm not the only person on here who is seriously fed up with this! If the Yahoo answers admin team is reading this person's 'question', will you please do us all a big favour and pin it where everyone can see it, along with a warning that some people on here operate a zero tolerance policy. i.e. the type of answers I previously described are NOT WELCOME and will be given as a bad rating (even if they are just meant as a 'joke'-if so, why is no-one else laughing? Think before you write next time!) and where appropriate reported as abuse! I'm not a radical person, but if anyone else on here agrees with me, I invite you to join me in adopting this policy! By the way, to the person who wrote on here saying moderation wouldn't work because there are too many questions and answers, you're right, but we can't carry on doing nothing!

I'm right with you on that. There were complaints on here regarding really abusive replies to people who's questions were very serious... Seriously, when you see these initial questions being followed by how many "updates" (or follow-ups), you would assume this person's not joking. Oh sure, we see questions here meant for the fun of being "curiously stupid", but those are done just to see the funny/ridiculous replies that will come along... but when it comes to these people reaching out, the last thing they'll need to hear is some SMART idiot coming out with something stupid like "HEY! COME ON OVER WHEN YOU DECIDE TO BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT... I'VE NEVER DONE IT WITH A CORPSE BEFORE, OR EVEN STUCK IT IN THE BULLET HOLE!!! " duuuuuuhhh!!! (Someone actually did say that, earlier)...
It's like, come on people, funny is one thing, but if someone is reaching out in hopes that they get the "been there... done that" people who can actually give something of encouragement, if you can't give some kind of an uplifting opinion, you should just back off from the question altogether and move on... Bashing certainly isn't making you some bigshot of any sort, it just puts you on the spot when the same thing just may actually happen to you, or maybe worse... And don't think for a second your some tough guy either because, although you're saying your stupid comments here, you wouldn't have the guts to say it right to their face... and the majority of the mouthy ones are IN FACT the teen KIDS... not all of them, just that certain few... They're just so smart that any mature adult, or nice guy are the first they come around to making fun of. If they are indeed smart, I just wonder why is it that they find it proper to wear a pair of pants down around their knees and yet also fasten a belt (when it ain't giving any support what-so-ever)??? Or wear baseball caps the size of a soup pot, think they're so cool, yet can't even see where the hell they're going as they follow off with their friends, strutting out of their parents luxury home, like they think it's the new "ghetto", whereas the ghetto is the new upper class??? Hmmmmm.... That should be a good question to put here...LOL
Anyway, it's just too bad that there is no consideration from some, who just wouldn't even THINK, and even wonder after seeing a lot of these sickly replies, they never asked themselves "What if it were me?" before they decided to become so nasty, otherwise cruel... or even, they seem to forget "What goes around, comes around... thousand fold".
Oh well... It's a shame.
Cheers!

The problem is that this forum is open to anyone to answer in any way they feel like, I'm sure that a forum that had specific help from trained counsellors, or other such body, such as the Samaritans in the UK would be a better way of getting help. On places like this you will ALWAYS get the person who just wants to make a stupid remark to gain a couple of points. The only way for your wishes to happen would be if Answers was a moderated forum, and that just couldn't work given the number of questions and answers posted.

Well done you for asking a thought inspiring Question!
Theres an answer for every Question here and i think it depends on the Question. I would never be sarcastic or rude to someone with a serious problem.......
Someone asking a dumb or stupid Question deserves the same in an answer.......
Btw, dyslexia is no laughing matter to those of you that choose to insult!

I also wonder: which are the reasons of the negative attitude among modern - especially young - people today? Is it the overall confusion of our world? Too much nothing, issues with no sense at all (just buy, buy buy and be happy...), fighting for the money and career?
On the other hand, what are the effects of lacking skills to focus on relevant issues: to your family, friends, neighbours...and not on Yourself only?
And, last but not least: is KINDNESS forbidden today? Is every one afraid to show her/his kindness? I can promise - I have lost nothing when trying to be kind - and have encountered catastrophes when NOT trying to be kind!
It is up to everybody: fighting results fighting, bad manners result bad manners, kindness results kindness...

To yuckler: There's a reason that 'imbecile' is your favourite word... it reminds you of yourself. I'm surprised you can spell it.
I've stayed up all night counselling suicidal people I've never met on the internet, because I can't bear the thought that I could have helped them but didn't. I therefor have no understanding of how people can be so cruel and sick.

I agree. The best one can do is try to get the person to get help and, if brave point out the near misses--people injuring themselves to permanent disability with decades ahead of them to regret the act.
The only persons I could ethically not try to stop are those dying of a terrible terminal disease.

I agree. I have been shocked at some things I have read. I read an old (7month old) post from a boy contemplating suicide. Someone told him to do it. He chose them as best answer and he hasn't posted since!!!
