Correct, the virus cannot survive for very long away from a host, so you can't get rabies by stepping on a fish bone. It can only be transmitted through a bite would with infected saliva. As others have said, please do not continue to allow your cats to eat bones, it really isn't safe for them. They should also be vaccinated - check with your local animal control agency on whether or not you have to license your cats (some jurisdictions do require cat licenses).
PS, animals are NOT always ferocious when rabid. There are two kinds of rabies - that one, and "dumb" rabies that gives the animal basically the opposite characteristics. If an animal is infected with rabies, it will die within 5 days.

No you could not contract rabies like that. Besides, if your cats would have had rabies they would have been rather violent and active. Since your cats are still moving and not foaming you can assume you do not have rabies. Of course, you will find out in about 10 days when the syptoms appear.

while you're easily specific that the cat has no longer been outdoors and has no longer been uncovered to animals that circulate out then it particularly is tremendously lots impossible for him to have rabies. Cats chew for many reasons, worry, annoyance, anger, exhibiting dominence, and in simple terms by using fact. the only checks for rabies are to maintain the cat limited for a era of 10 days to 2 weeks to substantiate it would not grow to be ill with the indications you learn or to have it killed and its techniques examined. the U. S. centers for affliction administration says that whilst rabies would take months to take place in an animal the only time it particularly is contagious (and the only time the animal will act ill) is after the affliction has moved into the animals techniques and saliva. Then in many situations interior of three-5 days it particularly is going to be very obtrusive that the animal is ill with the indications you learn. If the cat does start to tutor thise sympoms interior of here couple of days then you certainly do ought to take it to a vet and it does must be examined even nonetheless meaning putting it to sleep it relatively is definitely kinder than letting it gon by way of a terrible dying from rabies so as which you will locate out of you like the human prevenataive rabies treatments so as which you do no longer fall ill and die. it may be important on your cat - the two cats - to circulate to the vet and get his photos and so which you will contemplate having him neutered by using fact it relatively is going to help calm him, end him from territory marking (peeing or spraying) on your abode, make him much less in all probability to grow to be aggressive with you and consisting of your different cat and help him be much less in all probability to get the belief of working out sometime once you open the door and not coming back or getting very ill if he did get out and get right into a combat or became uncovered to a diverse animal who became ill. i'm happy you rescued him and gave him a physically powerful abode and which you recognize and settle for his no longer being a cuddly kitty. he's blessed to have you ever.

If your cats were vaccinated for rabies you have no worries. There hasn't been a positive case of rabies in domesticated animals in 50 years.
And why are you feeding your cat fishbones? Not good for them at all.

Why are you letting your cats eat fish bones? That's not very safe. And don't you have your cats vaccinated for rabies? It's required by law.
