Parrots are social creatures that require a lot of interaction.

Do you have a job? You'll need to make sure you're able to provide for all their needs as far as food, proper cage setup and toy rotation, and vet bills.

Since you are not an experienced owner, I would suggest getting one for now. You can always add another bird later.

Make sure you do your research before buying. I suggest http://www.budgietalk.com

You can find your nearest avian vet at http://aav.org/vet-lookup

Thats so nice you are thinking of getting budges. They are very affectionate birds. For now I think since this is your first bird you should get one. It is much easier to train and get used to the bird as well as it get comfortable with you and also they follow each other- If one is scared the other becomes scared. If there is another bird in the cage he will have no interest with you. Budgies are a good companion and they can last up to 15 years, so if you are deciding on buying it think will you have time to entertain your pet because they need love and attention as well. If you cannot provide that for them but still want them I suggest you buy two so they wont be lonely and also buying toys would entertain you bird when you are not home. But I really think you should start off with one. Finger train him get him used to you then if you feel you- to have bonded enough you may think of getting another, but dont think you can train both at once because if you are inexperienced I DONT COUNT ON IT!!! So take my advice if you really want them get one and buy a couple of toys to entertain him if you are to busy get two with some toy salso but either way I hope you are happy with your decision. Goodluck

Budgies are great but all depends on how much time you have to look after two. Two are good for each other because they like company but they make twice the mess. Be prepared to clean out thecage once a week.

As you are still at school,it sounds very much as though you would not have a lot of time to care for your Budgies, should you decide to go ahead and get one/two. Budgies still require attention, cleaning the cage daily,(a must for healthy bird/s) ,water and seed need attention, general tidying of cage, washing your birds toy's daily. All these things go to help keep your bird/s happy and healthy. You will also need to check your bird on a daily basis,to ensure he/she is healthy, look for any signs of illness. Birds will die quickly if the owner is unaware of sickness. You will need to observe your bird to allow yourself to recognise the symptoms of illness. Will you have time for this??
Should you go ahead,if someone is home during the day, then one bird will be ok,provided he/she has toy's and a mirror. Birds are social creatures and do need company.Should you decide on two birds, never put two females together as they will fight, and most likely come to grief.Pets are pets, whether they are cats, dogs, birds. They ALL need care and attention,so please think carefully before venturing into this.

If you are willing to spend a LOT of time with them, i would get one. If you are not gonna be home for most of the day, i would get two so that they can keep each other company.

if you want him to be friendly tward u only get one and stay away from mirrors and fluffy featherlike toys. if theres 2 birds in the cage they will bond to eachother and have no need for u, if the one bird had a mirror or a fluffy toy he will think its another bird and bond with it. if u dont plan on handeling ure bird then get 2 so they can keep eachother company

Buy one first, then one later on (but not in a year!)

One for now so that you can bond and train it easier. Have a nice day.

If you don't have much time for your bird, get two so they won't be lonely.
