change air filter and disconnect neg batt' post for thirty seconds and reconnect batt;. light should go out and run better/ also if the truck has a bucking fill like a horse ride when you acceliarate. is a sign that the fuel pump is week and needs replaced.

I have a couple of Fords that after 100k miles the light came on I would get it checked and they couldnt tell me anything.
Are far as the sputtering I would go with the other guys suggestions but maybe check your plugs as well. Also get some fuel cleaner or injector cleaner for the tank. Sometimes its just water in the fuel.

Well for one thing u should do a check engine light diagnostic. That means that there is a electronic componet going bad in your truck. It could mean that your 02 sensor is not working properly, It is either running to rich or to lean. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? But i would go with the diagnostic 1st.

The only way to know for sure is to hook it up to a diagnostic tool and scan for trouble codes. Some auto parts stores will scan it for you if they have time. (Auto Zone e.g.) Before you get it scanned you should do a complete tune-up on it if you haven't done so recently. Bad ignition parts can trigger trouble codes in the emission system which might lead you to replace a component which is functioning fine but picking up high or low readings because of a faulty ignition part. Be sure to include air filters, breather elements, pcv valve...etc.

Goto your local auto store so they can read the code and tell you what needs to be fixed. Removing the battery cable for any amount of time does not remove the code or fix the problem. I bought a code reader from wallmart for $50 and fixed my vehicle for very cheap, 2 O2 sensors were bad.
