If jesus was immortal, then his death on the cross was meaningless.....the pain he showed was simply a front as he knows he can return at anytime....and did, in the flesh once again....

He was embodied as a man and as such was not immortal while he was jesus before death. After the resurection he was no longer man, he was more an apparition. If you will recall Thomas doubted until he put his fingers in the holes in Jesus side and hands.

Should the stories of christianity be true (which they arent they are alegory) then one would assume that to enter this unverse as a human you must be born of woman (though it seems seed is not important) so to do this assumes the limitations of man, death, pain and emotions, as he showed at various times.

Heather: Please look up "immaculate concepcion". I think you'll be surprised that it isn't what you thought it was. It was not Jesus who was immaculately conceived.

And btw, as the doctrine of the trinity would have it, Jesus is God the Son and more than merely immortal. But at the same time he was also mortal, born of a woman. Its not half-half. Its 100% God, 100% Human. The God in him never died, only his human side. But that too was resurrected.

Well that's as the doctrine goes. Feel free to disagree with it. Just make sure you know what you are disagreeing with.

Nope your wrong.. Jesus was born from immaculate conception BUT he was still flesh and Blood like you and me and had the same decision you and I have to believe or not.. Jesus faith grew.. he was blessed with the ability to preform miracles and teach..

He still had to decide! Why do you thin k the devil tried to tempt him so badly to turn from his faith by telling him that he could not bear the sin of all man?? Surely, if Jesus knew he was immortal the devil would too and he was being futile in his attempt to tempt Jesus?? I think not...

Jesus willingly sacrificed his flesh and blood with the HOPE (Faith) of something more! His pain was as real as yours ever is.

It was only at the point of earthly of the flesh death that Jesus was sent into Hell to release the captives and tear the keys away from Satan of Sin and Death.
It was only after his physical flesh death that he was ressurected three days later because of Gods grace and miracle...

And it was only after Jesus flesh death that he was able to ascend into Heaven to sit beside God the father, completing the trinity.

So..Im sorry but your observation is flawed

Adam was also the son of god [Luke 3:38].

What gets me is according to the bible Adam didn’t have a mortal father or mother (he was made directly by god), and still he sinned his pants off and god killed him for it (so much for a perfect god). To answer your question, Jesus was mortal like the next guy, so his death was meaningless (except that it triggered the world’s most popular religion to happen).

Yes, 3 days to an immortal creature doesn't mean a lot, but as I always say "Jesus had a bad weekend for your sins" didn't play well in test markets.

Yes Jesus was, is, and ever shall be. As the priest of that time knew, when he said he was the Son of God he put himself equal with God. But to come to earth, as a perfect man, he gave up a part of his divinity, so while he was fully God, he was also fully man. He was subject to the same temptations and suffering that we are. Jesus didn't raise himself but God through His spirit did. Jesus chose to live among us as one of us to be the perfect sacrifice for our sin.

the pain suffered by Jesus on the cross was real human pain...and was suffered so when you feel pain, sorrow, rejection, abandonment, false accussations, etc....you can go to Him with the understanding He knows what you are feeling...His return was not a gimmick...it was the real thing and cemented the truth of His diety....check out the gospels and ask God to open your heart to the truth of His love for you in the Gift of His Son..†

You are missing the whole point of his death on the cross. He paid the punishment for those who choose to repent and follow him. He conquered death. Have you ever seen the movie Narnia?? The lion does for that little boy, what Jesus did for you and me.

That's not logical, sorry. I could claim the same but it won't make me immortal.

In the bible his death is symbolic to show everlasting life to His followers.
