Unfortunately, you are doing just about everything you can do to get rid of your bug. You need to rest, rest, rest and give your body time to heal itself. Have you tried Advil for the body aches? I would also suggest Mucinex to break up the chest congestion.
My mom used to make this concoction for me of lemon juice, honey and a shot of whiskey to give me the sweats and help break up the congestion. I don't know if it worked, but it sure made me sleep ;-D! Maybe a nice hot cup of tea with some honey and a shot of your favorite alcoholic beverage might help.
Take care and I hope you are well soon.

okay. i dont know how well this will help your sore thriat, and it may sound dumb, but go to walmart or somewhere, krogers? and buy ground peppermint and spearmint. get an old sock, dump it in there and tie the sock shut. microwave it for about30 sec. to a minute. that should clear up the congestion... of course youll smell minty a long time... for you throat, i would say gargle salt water.. or do this. i found it online:
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) According to Dr. Jarvis in his classic Folk Medicine, the remedy to use to get rid of a sore throat is to gargle with ACV. The acidity should kill the bacteria on contact. Mix one teaspoon to 2 tablespoons in a glass of water. You can mix it as strong as you can stand it. Gargle one mouthful every hour, swallowing afterward. Repeat twice each time. This treatment can cure a streptococcic sore throat in 24 hours. The acid in the ACV is very helpful in soothing and minimizing the sore throat, and, if you swallow it, the extra potassium is also beneficial. Note: After using this remedy be sure to rinse your mouth with water to prevent the acid from eroding the enamel on your teeth. hope this helps. feel better!

In addition to Robitussin DM, you may try non-drying Sudafed or the generic equivalent and Vick's Vapo rub. Really, this is what an experienced pharmacist recommended. Drink plenty of fluids. If you have a fever over 101F or it lasts more than a week or if you have a severe chest cough get to the Doctor!!!

Try a strong peppermint tea with fresh gingerroot slices (the center of the gingerroot is the most potent), fresh lemon, and a teaspoon of honey. Take a few fresh slices of gingerroot (not the pickled ginger) and chew on it slowly throughout the day. Keep this regiment for a week. Get plenty of rest and water as well and restrict your caffine intake.
