Start when they're five or so, and whenever they do somethiing bad, make them smoke as a punishment. Make sure they inhale and make sure they cough. Tell them that next time if they do it again, you will make them smoke a non-filtered cigarette.
Then, point at teenagers and adults who are smoking, and tell them that these are people who kept doing bad things, and that their punishment was that they had to keep smoking until they were addicted, so now they cough all the time, and they're going to get cancer.
Then, they'll grow up thinking of smoking as a punishment, and they'll hate it and never want to start!
Please try this on your kids, and in 30 years let me know how it worked. I need at least 1,000 people to try this on their kids for good data. If you work for the tobacco companies, well, sorry.
(this theory is based on my ex-girlfriend telling me that she is a slob because her mother used to make her clean as a punishment)

Your children will become addicted if you do this. The logic is flawed. It is also illegal.

I would not use that method. When our 4 year old nephew came to stay with us we used the bad people do bad things method. If we saw someone smoking we explained that that person could get really sick and die and not get to play with their kids again. We used the same method with different explanations about drugs, alcohol, overeating, and even girlfriends! Long story but it all worked. Worked really well for the bad people say bad words concept too.
Don't give them what they've never had. Aside from medical and moral reasons, they may like it at five!
I'm not a smoker, husband just quit.

there are always alternatives to extremes in discipline. you dont have to make children smoke or hit them to make them understand. i teach. i deal with children all the time. they are energetic and full of life. learning to discipline them is difficult but as adults, something that we must do. if a child does not abide by your set rules, then issue a timeout. or you can discipline a child by taking away something they treasure. this is not a very successful action in the long run. communication is very important. so you dont really have to break out the cancer sticks ever. just have patience and things will work themselves out. Good luck friend

Not much thought put into this one! Let's analyze this for a second and take it to its logical conclusion.
1. We get our children to become addicted to a "drug" in order to teach them a lesson!?
2. We then have them practice raping other children so they don't do this in the future.
3. We have them murder, while their at it, this will keep them from doing it when they are adults.
Do you see where this very flawed idea will take you?
For future reference, THINK before you ASK!

I think that may be an illegal not to mention immoral way of raising a child. As for being a slob. My mom used to use cleaning as a punishment. I however am a slob because I can be not because of her.

If you don't mind damaging your kid's lungs, it's fine.
You should not lie to your children. Tell them the truth and let them know the consequences of smoking, and hope that your kids are smart enough not to smoke.
I'm not a smoker.

Do you realize how much of a risk you are putting youre children for all types of lung diseases. I would also think that this would be a form of abuse. If you were the father of my children and you did something like I would have your sorry but thrown so far in jail that they would never find you.

no i am not a smoker. i see the logic in this punishment but i would NEVER do that to a child. for one, you could give them cancer or asthma or emphazema, lots of things. for two, you could get in trouble by CPS and also the police for supplying a minor. just not a good idea.

That's stupid.
I just tell my nieces and my daughter that smokers are trash and low class and who wants to be like them? They waste $$$, they stink, they have nasty yellow teeth and stinky breath, they are limited to who'll date them, they age very quickly, cancer, ect....
The truth is the best thing to tell them!
