I have an extended warranty on my car (worth about 2K) and i decided that i want to sell the car, but first I want to cash out the warranty. I know that i will have to call the phone # on the warranty card and all of that nonsense, but i was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what happens, how long it takes, etc. Thanks!

You should contact the dealership where you purchased the warranty and fill out a cancellation form. Make sure that you receive a copy of the cancellation document. The dealership will then turn the cancellation paperwork into the warranty company and they will send the dealership the refund money and then the dealership will issue you a check for the cancellation monies. Most warranty companies will allow the dealership to generate a cancellation quote on the day that you cancel so you have a general idea of how much money you will be receiving as a refund. It normally takes about 4 to 6 weeks to process paperwork and then get the check out to the customer. Another recommendation is to get a contact name and number of the warranty administrator (usually in the accounting office) to follow-up with them to make sure you get your check.

Follow-up by calling the warranty company to tell them that you have canceled the policy through the dealership.

Actually you don't have to call the number on the warranty card. What you have to do is go by the dealership where you purchased the car and the extended warranty. See the finance manager and he can handle it for you. You will generally have a refund in less than a week. Well it is less than a week at my dealership. They will ask you to put it in writting that you want to cancel the warranty and someone at the dealership have to verufy how many miles is on your car at the time of cancelation. I hope that his helps.

Why don't you just call the darn number?

How could anyone here POSSIBLY know the answer to such a question ESPECIALLY since you haven't bothered to tell us the name of the warranty company or anything else??

Not only that, you have the contract right there in front of you! Why don't you READ it?? It just MIGHT answer your question!!

I suppose you COULD type in the entire text of your warranty contract here and MAYBE someone will be bored enough to read it FOR you. Well, maybe not...

What happens next? Do whatever they tell you to do!
How long does it take? It takes exactly as long as it takes!

In maximum economic transactions (paying for products) , you have a three day "cooling off" era in which you will replace your ideas. verify with the broking and notice if there is something interior the settlement language protecting you from doing this. in case you have no longer signed to purchase the motor vehicle, you ought to no longer be held to the guaranty.communicate this with administration, no longer the salesman.
