I would never say Muslim women are stupid or ugly.
We don't have a real picture of Mary, but we assume she wore the customary Jewish clothing of the time. This would include a veil on the head, but not covering the face.
I am not wearing one because our traditions have changed, even though our faith remains the same.

Muslim women are not stupid or ugly for wearing a burka. A real Christian would not say that. There is concern for the safety of women who wear the tent like burkas over their heads with only a small viewing place. They often fall because they cannot see well or are hit by vehicles because they have such limited perifil vision with the burka on. That would be the greatest concern, a safety issue, it has nothing to do with intelligence or looks. The question is, why are they forced to wear such things that can cause them harm?

First of all,I've never said that Muslim women were 'stupid' and 'ugly' with the burka on.
Second,Mary didn't wear a burka, she wore a head covering, which was customary dress at the time.

I dont think anyone is stupid or ugly no matter what they are wearing on their heads or not. Not all Christians are the same. I lived in Turkey for 2 years..mostly Muslims there, saw a lot of women with burka's and when I visited a Mosque I had to wear one. They are part of their culture..and I have no problem with it at all. I think all people are beautiful and from God..no matter who they serve, its also God who they will answer too.

i am christian. i have NEVER said that muslim women were stupid or ugly for any reason including wearing the burka. i have always wondered what the purpose of it was but never have i said anything nasty because of it. i think, perhaps, you shouldn't put us all in one group. maybe those who have said things about your attire weren't even christains.and while were on the subject, if american women were to visit a country where the burka is a necessity, we would have to where it.right? and yet in america we do not insist you take yours off. i wonder why that is.

You know I really think it is a lack of understanding of what a burka is. When westerners see the word "burka" they usually imagine the pictures from Afganistan where you couldn't even see their faces...just a mesh for them to see out of over their eyes. The Quran, I believe, if i'm not mistaken says that muslim women should dress modestly. There is a verse in the Bible that speaks of a woman covering her head. It is seen by most christians as cultural for the time but I don't know enough about it to really comment. I don't cover my head but I do dress modestly for my culture. I wish more women would dress modestly. I don't agree that a womans face should be veiled though. To me that looks like shame and not modesty, but I'm a christian, not a muslim. We do not follow the same book.

Look, it is getting really annoying with you Muslim women crying and whining about how us Christians treat you so bad. No one really cares what you wear. If you want to cover the beauty God gave you, go for it. Enjoy! My personal opinion of these American women converted to Muslim and wearing their "burka" is basically just a show for attention. You know that this type of clothing is not required in this country. It almost reminds me of young guys who join the military and they are so proud of their uniform that they have this thing for awhile to wear it everywhere they get a chance to just to say "Hey, look at me". Is this what you are doing?

First of all, the person who told you that is not acting as a Christian should. I'm sorry someone said that to you because it was rude and very insensitive.
Most christians do not wear one because we do not feel that this is something that we need or should wear. But if wearing a burka is something you feel is important to you, then I respect your decision!
