Wow, that's a lot of questions. Let's take them apart and answer each.

Are fruits and veg fattening? -- Well, it depends. Some fruits have a _lot_ of sugar in them. For example, a cup of strawberries have 46 calories.
A typical organge has around 70 calories.

an avocado has about 300 calories -- mostly from fats. (about 2/3)

So, it depends on the fruit.

Obviously, if you eat enough of them, you will gain weight. How many depends on the number of fruit, their caloric density and what your target is.

MOST veg have very low calorie density. You can eat a LOT of celery and not gain weight. Beets are denser. Then, there's potato.... and turnip and rutabega. The point is, it's not a simple answer.

Ok, on to the second question. Will it contain any fat? -- well, some do, and some don't (see avocado above) But gosh, it's not just FAT that makes one fat. It's the total numbers of calories, be those fats or carbs or proteins. Too many proteins, and you're fat. Too many fats and your fat. Too many carbs and your fat.

To lose weight, intake has to be less than outgo. It just does.

The real problem is if you "keep feeding yourself" with _anything_ you're eventually going to binge on something you shouldn't.

You need to make a plan for eating and stick to your plan. This sucks, and is hard. Good luck

You need to eat bananas or you will get leg cramps. Just stay away from raisins or other dried fruit because the sugar content is high. . Everything else has stuff you need. Avoid juice and eat the whole fruit instead, like oranges and apples. Don't have more than 4 servings a day. If you're going to overload on anything, make it veggies. You get a lot more nurtition and a lot less calories, especially if you go with green leafies. Eat soybeans and tofu for protein.

NO fruits and vegetables are the less fattening things on this planet that you could eat! It's better for you to eat a sweet fruit then say a cinnamon roll. Try to eat more citrus fruits they're actually better for the body!

Fruits and vegetables are really good for you. Most fruits contain sugar. I don't think either of them contain fat. If you go from eating a regular diet to one of fruits and vegetables, you should loose weight.

Sweet comes from carbohydrates. In fruit it comes from fruit sugars (fructuse). There is NO fat in fruits.

Avocados have fat, but a good fat. Same with olives.

If you eat more calories (whether fat, carbs, or protein) than you burn you gain weight. If you eat less calories than you burn you will lose weight. It is that simple.

However, it takes energy for the body to convert food to fat. It takes MORE energy to convert protein and carbs to fat than it does to convert fat to fat.

Most squash/pumpkin seeds are ok as long as they are natural with no sugar, salt or other seasonings. I used to hoard the ones from the halloween pumpkin for mine, as well as from any squash that I was preparing. They love them. I also grew sunflowers for them in the summer and then gave them those seeds when they were ready. As for squash seeds, wash them off and don't give too many at once, they can get pudgy, lol! They also like whole buckwheat, rolled oats, steel cut oats, peanuts (raw, unsalted), any kind of raw, unseasoned tree nut. Please give these only as treats, your guys will get pudgy if given too many. A pudgy gerbil lives a shorter life. Apples are fine, just NO SEEDS. The seeds contain a cyanide like substance that can make them ill. (Dogs can't have them either). All of the following is raw with no seasonings: Bok Choy, Broccoli and cauliflower (they really like the "stumps"), cauliflower leaves, kale, dandelion leaves from your yard if not treated or fertilized, pears (no seeds), strawberries are a favorite always, as are carrots. No: citrus or acidic foods, no potato, no onion (causes anemia and death), pineapple, rhubarb (toxic), or junk foods (sweets, chips, etc.) I am sure there is more, I just can't think of them off the top of my head. I am sure there is a list on the web somewhere! I just copied this one from the previous question, btw.

Most fruits are fat free -- avocados and olives are a notable exception.

All fruits have calories.

For every 3,500 calories you consume but do not "burn" you will gain one pound of fat.

Do not worry about fattening foods -- it is your total overall diet, over the course of weeks and months that matters.

Fruits don't usually have fat, but they have sugar. And sugar turns to fat, so eat your fruits in moderate.
