Can't say exactly, but he got almost as far as Jesus. Unfortunately this wasn't horse shoes. So almost didn't quite cut it. But he did better than a lot of us. He actually did walk on water a little bit before he began to sink and his writings made to the final cut in the New Testament. Although I don't think he spends all that much time at the gate, many people believe that he keeps the gate when people enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Not bad for an almost guy.

There is actually no mention of "how far" Peter walked on the water, but the scripture reads from the Gospel of Matthew Chap 14......
25 Between three and six o'clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the water. 26 When his followers saw him walking on the water, they were afraid. They said, "It's a ghost!" and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus quickly spoke to them, "Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid." 28 Peter said, "Lord, if it is really you, then command me to come to you on the water." 29 Jesus said, "Come." And Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. 30 But when Peter saw the wind and the waves, he became afraid and began to sink. He shouted, "Lord, save me!" 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught Peter. Jesus said, "Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?" 32 After they got into the boat, the wind became calm. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, "Truly you are the Son of God!"
It couldn't have been far because Peter "saw the wind and the waves" which would have been hitting him before he even got out of the boat.
But Jesus grabbed his hand and pulled him back up to stand on the water and the both walked back to the boat.
Hope that helps.....

The Bible does not tell us how far he walked on the water, but obviously it was not far. Peter got his eyes off Jesus and saw the storm and waves and that fear caused him to sink. Jesus rescued him and helped him to the boat... To know the exact details you would have to talk to Peter or Jesus...when you get to heaven.

I don't think the distance is relevant to the truth trying to be expressed. The fact is that with eyes on Christ the Catholic Church, represented by Peter, will be divine but when the Church takes her eyes off of Christ and gets embroiled in earthly issues she will sink.

Daivd Blaine demonstrated he could levitate and David Copperfield flew. Witnesses to these acts did not start worshiping these men, so why do you give credence to un-substantiated hearsay from a flawed man-made book? Your interest in the measurement of distance in the fantasy you cite, is pointless.

about a meter until he was up to his knees than he got scared and waded back to shore
Jesus skipped away happily taunting Peter for being a doubting Thomas
,and Thomas stood at the shore shouting for Petes sake ,you guys stop taking the micky
and Micky said for God sake ,leave me alone ,
and God said everybody is fired etc.etc.

Assuming that the story is true then the serious answer is that no one really knows how far he walked. It is not mentioned anywhere in the Constantinian canon
