What if there was a religion that recommended always crying due to lamenting our attachments to material existence and crying due to our missing the kingdom of the Supreme Being?

How could that work if we needed to cry day and night for one or both reasons mentioned above?

I think it's physically impossible to cry day and night all the time.... maybe for a few days but it would exhaust a person and emotionally drain them.

"Recommended" indicates to a point that it might be a test of sorts.(of devotion?)
Maybe the religion would accept a symbolic way of crying... a fountain? a waterfall?

Honestly, what kind of life would that be for someone?
Obviously, humans are capable of a wide range of emotions (many unhealthy) why would a religion promote crying? It probably won't help anyone.

Why not a religion that 'recommends' laughing about the joy that the material world provides (what ever turns your crank) and the eternal joy (that many religions 'promise') after we die? (laughing would also be exhausting)

Even if the religion has monks or nun type people representing "the rest of us" and they cried... it would wear thin after a while and they would become numb or maybe desensitized...

That's my view on the possibility.

What kind of god would want someone to cry all the time and be miserable. The God of the Universe wants us to be happy and prosperous and He tells us in His Word, the Holy Bible, how we can do so. Our God loves us so much He gave His only Son to die for us so we could be saved. He does not want us to be miserable.
