whats wrong with finding inspiration from good people such as jesus and buddha, and even calling them god?

Inspiration as personal is not so bad. Inspiration to do good things for the planet, not bad either. Finding a reason to jail, torture, kill, or torment other human beings for NOT believing, REALLY bad idea.

Once you posit a god, you posit a cosmology. And as such you develop a moral authority who sits in judgment.

Finding inspiration from Nelson Mandela, ML King, Jr. and Gandhi are equally helpful. Turning to God leads to people deciding they've got God on their side, and that leads them to decide others are less deserving of wealth, respect, or even life.

I find no wrong in finding inspiration in the acts and lives of those who are outstanding in the world. Deifying them, however, is another matter entirely. Putting them on that pedestal of sanctity places us in an awkward position. They serve as an example for the perfection we struggle to attain. The expectations for all of us have become too high to reach and as a result, look at what's happening in society today.

You must remember that these people were only men, just like us. Not gods

People are not God. Compare the basic characteristics of each.

Jesus is not a good teacher. Have you read what he said?! If he isn't the Son of God, then he is an incredible nut-job and everything else he said is suspect.

Buddha is not God. Read his teachings. It is self-evident.

Inspiration is not God.

I commend you on asking these questions and hope you continue to do so.

Because that is not what I KNOW to be true.

The God I know --has a son named Jesus, whom we should
want to be like and be inspired by. No Buddha, thank you.

Everything you need to know is in the Bible. The Old Testament is a history book. The two commandments in the New Testament are how we should live our lives today. God Bless!

Even interior the animal kingdom there is cruelty. it particularly is a often happening undeniable fact that some animals are "kinder" than others, even in Africa. i've got self assurance we are o.k. here to evolve our thoughts and ethical codes. We have been all born with ethical instincts purely like birds are born with the instinct to fly and penguins are born with the instinct to stay as they do, etc.... people are born with ethical instincts already in tact that would desire to evolve as they improve. All instincts, animal or in any different case, come needless to say. it particularly is for us to artwork on our morals on a regular basis and improve. :) i can purely artwork on myself and help alongside the way once I can. each and every person has this comparable option.

Nothing is wrong in using them as examples however worshiping them is another thing altogether. We need to firm in our faith when we call someone God.
