I want to get a color tattoo, but I heard that you have to get the color redone every few years. Is this true? Are there any colors that are more fade resistant than others?

Depends if your artist waters down their colors, a good artist will not and they will last for years. the sun will fade them so use sun block.

Well it doesnt really matter what colour you get. Sun exposure is key to fading. A lot of sunscreen everytime you are anywhere near the sun will stop your colours fading. Yellow, Whites, Pinks are pretty subject to fading. Tanning will also change your colours because you tan over the tattoo. Kind of like Tinting the windows on a car with white upholstery. Its not white when you're looking in but its still white underneath. Your tone of skin will also be a factor in colours, some people can hold a white and others it just ends up looking like a flesh tone. Talk with your artist about what colorus work best for you.

No, this is not true. Years ago, the colors would fade... they have improved the ink tremendously... I have three tattoos, one of which has many colors that are all still very bright - and I got the tatty 13 years ago!! Just be sure to know what you want and remember it will be there forever - you better love it!

Of course blacks, greys, and darker colors stay fade resistant a little longer than colors period.

Just a note I've heard yellow is one of the harder colors ro remove if you ever want to get a tattoo laser removed.

When I got my tattoo, they told me that it would fade with too much exposure to sun. If you use a sunblock, it should be fine.

our skin renews itself every 28 days.. everything will fade... plus.. our weight changes.. we gain.. we lose.. etc.. it only makes sense that your tattoo needs to be redone.. especially if you do it on places that are more exposed to 'weathering' or stretching due to weight gain, pregnancy etc...

Why do people persist in putting on their bodies what looks worse than shiste house wall art? Yuk! And on a woman? Why not start smokin' stoggies and ridin' a Harley!
