Which mountain bike magazine do you think is the coolest? My brother is WAY into mountain biking and I'd like to get him a subscription, but don't know which are cool and which are lame. He's an Australian living in Japan if that helps narrow the field. Any advice?

I should clarify that I know how to use search engines such as google (and yahoo) but I'm looking for independant opinions of which mags are cool, rather than just taking the publishers word for it.

Dirt Rag is my favorite, a grassroots-oriented mountain bike magazine.
Mountain Bike is good too, but is only published about 4 times a year.
If he's into downhill/freeriding, Decline is a good one to read.

hey there kate i currently get the both every month and i would have to agree with every one so far mountain bike uk is far better i look forward to getting this one and when i get the mbr half the time i dont even bother opening only if theres afree gift then i dissappointed when i read it , stick with mountain bike uk and you wont go far wrong best of luck merry christamas.

I would vote for either Mountain Bike Action or Dirt Rag. Both are really serious about the sport. BTW, look at their web-sites every so often. They can be interesting also.

there are many out there but my person favorites are Mountain Bike Action and Bicycling mag. the latter is mostly road stuff, but has a lot of content dealing with fitness and health for cyclists. MBA wont have as much of that stuff, but it focuses on the sport of off-raoding and does a lot of part reviews and rider bios and that sort.
