Schools. Hospitals. Community centres. Drop-in clinics. Safe playgrounds. That's just a partial list.
Basically, anything that helps people to survive and to thrive, something that religion thinks it does but at which it fails miserably.

Who are " THEY " ? Christians build Churches to worship God . We purchase the land with our own money , we borrow from a bank if we have to , just like anyone else , we support the upkeep of the Church and all expenses to run it !!. The burden is on you to get your money together for whatever building you want to build. , go to the bank for a loan , or better yet , use your own money as Blood Bought Christians do ?? But remember , whatever building you build and staff , you cannot celebrate Easter , Christmas , or any other Godly holiday , so you don`t get time off for a holiday you don`t recognize ..

Have you realized yet that you have the blessing of living in a free country. You start taking away the rights of some it will only be a matter of time before someone will take away your rights. I can't believe how narrow minded you atheist can be. It sickens me to think that our fore fathers fought 2 WWs to keep our freedom and you want to tear all this down because you don't like Churches. Don't fear the Christians, you better watch out for all the Mosques going up in your country. Wait till they get a strong foothold into politics, you'll wish you had some Christians around.

Considering they're used as a focus point for a huge number of communities, the centre of many social service agencies, the hub for soup kitchens and food banks and shelters, I'd say that churches are pretty damn useful.
