I knew a friend who was at a party and this other guy brought his St. Bernard.
well it was a bikers house, and the guy had cats.
The cats sh*t all over the house and in the catbox, but the guy never cleaned it up. I know...GROSS.
So this dog comes in and heads STRAIGHT FOR THE CAT BOX, Cleaned it up real good too... my mom always said thats like...almond roca...there goes that Christmas box set...lol
Then the dog went all around the house, he was TUGGING at the poo stuck in the carpet...
Some of the guys at the party nearly got sick, and the rest were just dumbfounded.
the owner of the dog couldn't believe it, and his friend was like D*MN, thanks for bringing your dog over, thats the best "Sh*t Eatin' Dog", I ever saw.
So get a cat?
oh no, feel lucky he only eats his own?
no...Great source of protien...well, it is true that he may have a deficciency, or however you spell it, so yeah take him to the vet, or change his dogfood, get him some supplements, or get him a puppy-Sitter.
It won't likely hurt him.
There are a lot worse things he could be doing, like eating your drapes and then you have to pul...Oh GOTTA go.
best of luck with it.
If I totally grossed you out and you need me to remove this HORSESH*T of an answer. e-mail me.
But I am in a joking mood, and I find your problem, however serious, a little funny.

There are several products you can add to his food that make it less appealing. (Can sh*t be less appealing?) One product is called Deter, another good one is ForBid. You feed it to the dog for a few weeks, then every so often afterwards.

But in the meantime, you don't mention what you feed him. Make sure you feed him a quality food, nothing from the grocery store or big box stores is very good.

And give him more exercise and more things to do. Boredom busting toys, like Kongs and Buster cubes are good.

good luck!

Okay:

1. He may be lacking nutrients. Take him to the vet to see if you can just add some supplements to his food or medicine to get him the nutrients he needs.

2. He may be bored. Try playing with him often and give him lots of love and attention and maybe a walk everyday.

3. He just likes to eat it....If he does then scold him each time he eats it and then direct him to his own food or toys. Also try your best to clean up often in the yard so that he has less chance of eating poop. Also to reinforce the no eating poop disipline let him outside and if you see him eating it come running outside and whoop and hollar and scold him so that it will surprise him. Every time he starts doing it run outside. Eventually he will get the point that you are always watching him even if you aren't outside. After he learns not to eat it anymore then you shouldnt have to watch him the entire time he is outside.

I hope this helps you out and good luck! Happy Holidays!

It may be his natural reaction to a vitamin deficiency. Try changing his brand of dog food.

If you go to your local pet store, they should have in stock a powder to sprinkle on his food for this problem. It will make his stools taste gross to him.

Pick it up, and if he dosen't eat it, tell him he's a good boy.

My dog dose it too, but she just wants to play with it...
