AKC rules require the male be at least 7 months old before any offspring it produces can be registered. If it is bred before then the pups are not registerable.

Males can produce after about 6 months. It is going to be in your best interest if you wait until it is 1 year old. There are a lot of psychological reasons for this and I hope you trust me as an experienced breeder.
Please buy some books on breeding and dog health and thoroughly read through all AKC rules and regulations. The AKC has a lot of rules and they are strict. Take classes with your dog. If he is show quality then you may have breeding quality. Do not breed a substandard dog according to akc conformation ideals. You will not be helping the breed and may do damage if you don't know what to look for. Don't breed with just anyone with a female yorkie. Learn about how to compliment the female so they balance each other out.
Learn about dog STD's. Your dog can become very ill as well as pass on diseases to the females it is bred to. You need to know all of this before even considering putting him at stud.
You will need every vaccination there is just about. Contact with females requires a lot of time, diligence and work on your part. If one of them dies at your house during breeding what will you do?

Lots to learn and think about.

You should wait until your dog is fully grown himself to mate him. It is important to be sure you've done all the tests on him in advance to be sure he isn't carrying any genetic diseases.

Also, you need to wait until your puppy has proven himself in competition with other dogs. Probably, the best thing to do is neuter him at 6 months.
