It depends on the child. I have a friend who took the TVs out of her house and now her son's aggression has almost completely diminished.
My daughter can handle small amounts of TV. On weekends, the TV is on much more if we don't have anything to do.
During the week, when we're rushing around to get to school or activities, the TV really slows us down. My daughter can't multi task when the TV is on, so she really is so SLOW doing anything (eating, getting ready to leave, etc.) if the TV is on. During the week, most days, the TV isn't even on. We are too busy eating, taking a bath, getting ready for school, playing games, playing outside, etc. If anything, she will watch a half hour Disney show before going to bed.
On weekends, the TV is on more often. We like to watch a lot of movies and sometimes TV is on in the morning while I wash the bed linens, do laundry, tidy up the bedrooms, etc.
I like to allow my daughter to watch TV sometimes if she's home sick or if it's a day off school. She loves the extra treat.

Yeah 2 hours a day is a good amount for kids that age. My son is fine and I allow him to watch 1 to 1.5 hours of TV a day, but he is only up 9 hours a day (he sleeps 12 hours at night and takes a 3 hour nap) and so I think that is plenty of time for him to be sitting in front of the TV. If he was up longer I'd probably let him watch about 2 hours of TV max.

I have a middle schooler. She is so busy with homework, that she may get to watch just a part of a show she enjoys.
On the weekends we usually have a movie night, and thats something we do as a family. I really, would rather her doing something else than watching too much TV. It's actually nice to hang out together.

I asked this question a few days ago, I let my children watch 30 mins a day unless its a special movie night where Ill watch a christmas movie with them, or other special nights. 30 mins after their bath and thats it... I think kids should be playing and using their imaginations, not rotting their brains.
