I am not sure if there is more than one word for love in Singhalese. But if there is, how would you write and say the kind that describes 1. unconditional love....like a Godly love, and 2. a romance?

I'm currently learning Singhalese (Sinhala) and the most common word I have heard for love is "aadareya". It definitely refers to romantic love, not sure whether it also refers to Godly love.

It is pronounced somewhat like "aah-duh-ray".

To see it written in Sinhalese characters click on this link and enter "love" and then click on search.

Of the results, the word "aadareya" is the second one, i.e. the word in the top right hand corner of the shaded box.

The word for love that is given there before "aadareya" is "preemaya".
