There is no age limit on being engaged. You cannot get married before age 18 without parental consent, though. Since an engagement is only an agreement between people, there is no age limit.

I was engaged at 17, but got married at 18. A friend of mine got engaged at 17, and her parents signed a consent form for her to get married three months before she turned 18.

So, there is no engagement age limit, only marriage without parental consent.

You can be engaged at birth if your family practices arranged marriages. Engagements are not regulated by the government at all. You can get married at 16 with parents permission and you can get married w/o parent's permission at 18.

I don't know why people are saying 18 like it's a matter of fact when it's so far off, they must be really young or something.

Hi cookie !!!

You should be asking how old, sweetie!!!!
You see, being engage is a very serious commitment. Is sort of, kind of practicing to be marry. That is the whole point for engagements, engagements are not suppose to be for a long time. Is a period of time when two people, seriously commit to one another in order to prepare for a life together which is the wedding!!!
This gives the couple a sense of ownership to one another.
If you are too young as you said, I do not recomend for you to be engage to any body.
You should be really sure of what you are doing and it seems to me you are not. Is this your first boyfriend???
How old are you???? How old is him???? Are you planning to get marry soon??? When??? In less than a year??? Why??

Are you studying??? Does he as a job??? Are you ready for the resposabilities that an engagement brings, and teh consecuenses of being engage??? What are your goals in life??

To better understand what engament is , I suggest you engage yourself in having an education that leads you to a profession. Just in case. Something goes wrong, and that engagement with this person goes wrong, you at least are already engaged with yourself, and the heartache will be educated and much easier to comprehend.

I hope you take my humble advise. I will hate to see a young mind go to waste, due to the word "ENGAGEMENT".
GOD BLESS YOU and educate yourself first, then engage!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR

There is no law on becoming engaged. You may not marry however until you are 18 w/o your parents consent. You may marry younger w/ your parents consent. How much younger depends on state. Usually it is 16-17 w/ parental consent. 14-15 years old w/ court approval and parental consent.

Being engaged is not a legal standing so it has no age limitations.

You should at least be done with college...getting married young used to be the thing to do, but now couples are waiting until they have steady careers before they even get engaged. There is no reason to rush things...
