I asked the same question today and ended up getting a docs appiontment...now its under investigation for gallstones. Might be worht you taking a trip to the docs, you never know it might be something simple they can help with easily, but you could, on the other hand, save yourself alot of pain in the future. I was dumb and waited way to long to get it seen too. Could have been cured 18 months ago.
Have a good Xmas, and hope its sorted soon

I had just that and after being rushed into hospital they found I had a collapsed lung. Bloody painful.
A small cut with a sharp knife thru my ribs to insert a tube into the chest cavity, put onto a drain, lung repaired and reinflated in 9 days, more pain having the tube took back out.
Been fine for 3 years now, get to the doctor instead of asking here.

Consider whether you have had a blow in that area, in which case you may have broken a rib.
Also you may have strained an intercostal muscle, the muscles between the ribs.
Both these injuries will produce the same type of pain on breathing, bending and twisting. In either case, sadly, healing can take a few weeks simply because you cant immobilise ribs or intercostal muscles (One has to breath). Just do not carry out any activity that will or is likely to cause pain in that area.
It is always advisable to get it checked out in case of lung infection.

As you have difficulty breathing and sharp pains which are obviously related to this, you could have an infection in your right lung.See you Doc. ASAP.Can be cleared up with Antibiotics. On the other hand it could a sprain of an intercostal muscle, which are the muscles between the ribs.

It could be your gallbladder. When I had gallstones the attacks felt like I was being kicked hard right under the front right side of my ribcage, and in the back at the same time. Go to the doctor whatever it is.

Oh yes...it's VERY painful. When you try to exhale, the pain stabs, right? I've found when that happens, that it's usually gas. If you drink some water with a little baking soda in it, then lean over a counter top and kind of push up on your belly, it will start the gas moving.
It's scary and painful when that happens. If you stay upright, it helps too.

Is there any chance that you could have fractured one of your ribs, without knowing ? why don't you go along to your local hospital and ask the A&E dept. to check you out, an xray might just find the problem. Good Luck !

I had something similar and it turned out to be pneumonia, but it could be caused by a number of things. You should go to see your doctor and get it checked.
