The followers of Jesus were first called Christians in Antioch, a city on the eastern Mediterranean coast.
You'll find this reference to it in the Bible:
Acts 11:26 ...and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
The first areas where people followed Jesus were what is now modern day Greece, Turkey, the Near East, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the rest of north Africa. Essentially, people throughout the entire Roman Empire began to follow Jesus, and Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire in the early fourth century.
Today, Christians are found everywhere in the world, though in some places, particularly in many Muslim countries and officially atheistic nations like China, the church exists underground and Christians are persecuted and even murdered.

Christianity effectively began in 30 AD with the crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's actually start date is unknown, except for the fact that it started on the Day of Pentecost as noted in the Book of Acts.
It is practiced on every continent and in most every nation in the world. Christians comprise approximately 1/3 of the world's population citing a constituency of approximately 2.1 Billion people.

The Church began in Jerusalem soon after the resurrection and ascension of Christ. It then spread, through the apostles, into the rest of what is now the Middle East, Turkey, Greece and Italy. It spread throughout Europe, parts of Asia, and throughout the known world. The Church today is strong in the places where it faces the most persecution. While it is still alive in America, it is growing in China, Africa, parts of the Middle East and the old Soviet Union.

Those who told Jesus' story to other people did not have a name until a church in Antioch started calling themselves Christians.
I would guess that was about 50 years after Jesus was crucified.
It is in the Bible. I will try to find the verse and get back to you.
I found it; Acts 11:26 ....... and the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."
It , Christianity, spread from Israel by foot, and camel, at the speed of travel.

It began in the heart like all other religions...then developed in the minds....most major religions evolved in the Middle East....Like
Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Hinduism and Buddhism in South Asia, Taoism and Confucianism in China.
They all spread from these respective areas...Islam being the fastest growing religion now although there are more Christians and any other religious groups...
Kindly correct me if I am wrong....thank you...

It started in Israel, then as God saw fit to expand to the Gentiles, it went to Syria, Macedonia, Greece and eventually to Rome.
However it had spread to Etheopia and Lybia.
At pentecost there were Jews of many nations that went home to teach what they saw and heard at pentecost.
