When people think pigeon they usually are thinking of the genus Columba. There 33 living species of columba and 7 that became extinct over the last 2-3 centuries.

all i know is there is 28 different colours Pigeon is the common name for members of the Columbidae family of birds. Smaller species are commonly known as doves. Hundreds, if not thousands of breeds have been developed by man for many purposes:hope that can help.

I'm not so sure but I do know that there are as many as 28 different pigeon color types.
