The roller cage is usually between $2-$10. Go for a nice metal one with good bearings, so the roller doesn't drag on the wall.

The roller itself can be anywhere from .99 to $6. The better the roller (Purdy makes one of the best) the pricier they are, as with almost anything else in life. They are reusable. Wash with soap and water while the paint is still wet.

A little painting tip: The rougher the surface, the longer the nap. (nap = length of fibers that make up the roller. A longer nap is fluffier than a shorter nap.)

just the roller, the metal part, is about $5.50 in Mass., but then you have to but the sponge part. That can go from $.99 to $5.00, depending on the thickness.
