This is what doctors usually say:
If it hurts, don't do it.

It's not a stupid spiritual thing. I'm learning about this right now, and am having more of a time controlling the experience then anything else. It is a very spiritual and psychological experience when your ready for it. If your having anxiety, then your approach is incorrect. Either that, or your not in a fully relaxed state prior to beginning the process. I think that you need to focus on meditation first. Once you get into that zone, then your ajna chakra will allow you to experience this and have an appreciation for it. Also, examine your reasons for wanting to attain this sight. Make sure your reasons are pure, and not for personal gain of some kind. If reasons are not pure, all it will remain is a stupid spiritual thing.
Closing Ajna Chakra: Get into your meditative state and relax. Breath deep and slow. Invision your third eye closing, like a flower closes at night time. As your ajna relaxes and closes breath out and invision it closing completely. Once closed, invision the energy leaving out slowly through your body. Once it has left, slowly allow yourself to come out of your meditative state. Next time, exert more caution before attempting this. Get informed and educate yourself. You'll have a better appreciation for it.

"Physical basis: the pineal gland?
Some, including Rick Strassman, have suggested that the third eye is in fact the partially dormant pineal gland, which resides between the two hemispheres of the brain. This concept is supported by the pinealocytes, one type of cells within the pineal gland, having a strong resemblance to the photoreceptors of the eye. Additionally, the pineal gland is said to excrete dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is believed to be a chemical precursor to dreams, near-death experiences, meditation, visions, and other forms of awareness that aren't well understood yet. While still speculative, this indicates that the pineal gland could be the physical manifestation of the third eye. Various types of lower vertebrates, such as reptiles and amphibians, can actually sense light via their pineal gland which serves to synchronize their circadian rhythm to the daily light/dark cycle.
Current medical understanding states that the pineal gland is a producer of the hormone Melatonin, which has a role in regulating the body's circadian rhythm to the daily light/dark cycle and also assists with the immune system."

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.
Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

If what you perceive to be the basis of all universal truth then you must see they way of something that is far reaching beyond the mind into the soul. To open ones eyes to familiar territory is an ambivilent direction of choices. Serenity is far spent.

I think your questions need to be answered professionally. You could contact the persons health advisor or Dr if you have any concerns. You would need to be a direct relative to get the answers you are looking for. I would not like to give you any advise without knowing the person and their medical history.

Face your fears and beliefs. Once your eyes are open, it is much more difficult to go back to sleep or remain in denial. I wouldn't recommend it anyway. Do not trust the fears, and learn to dissipate them. Continue becoming awake and study those that have been there.----------You are like Adam and Eve after eating of the fruit.

You have opened yourself up to demonic activity. The Bible warns us against delving into the occult. Pray, with sincerity, asking God to send the demons away, and resolve not to "play around" with any other occult practices. Read John 3:16, and John 3:3.
