It's a bad habit, I don't think they realize they are half the time.

Regular television stations used to "bleep" out words now they allow certain swear words to be broad casted and how many children watch t.v.? Not to mention the kids that look up to their parents that smoke drink and swear. Swearing, sex and drugs seem to sell more than anything these days.

Youth using profanity is more of a symbol of rebellion and trying to look "cool". Sadly, our society has become so riddled with profanity that it has lost all impact, and there are many people that cannot seem to communicate without swearing. I am not claiming to be any kind of saint, as I swear plenty as well. The biggest difference is that I know when it would be inappropriate, and abstain in those instances and settings.

Well, I would think people swear because it makes them feel that much better about their situation or problem. It makes them feel like they are getting a point across.(grown up point of view)
Now from a child's view, when they swear they feel like they are grown up... or they want to feel like they are cool.. sounds cliche but its true.... I think that's they language that conquers all.. even you!

kids like to swear because they know that it is bad--it gives them a chance to vent all the anger/lack of control of their life, etc that they have. its angst. yeah, its hard on the ears and the heart. I wish they wouldn't. I have found, with swearing, that venting in sharp words doesn't ease my feelings--just makes them worse.

A lot of times people curse out of habit. They seem to have no idea where they are or who is around them. It is not a good habit to get into.
I read on the Internet that cursing is the "adult" equivalent of an infant crying. It is not really saying anything of substance, it is just an emotional outburst. It made a lot of sense to me.
To me, cursing is just a sign of lack of class.
